However, I believe L3 now has so many useful features that many of you
(especially part authors) also might enjoy, so I shouldn't keep it to • myself.

I have often wanted to release it, but there were always so many open • issues
in the program, things that should be finished and polished. Realizing that
I will never get around to make it perfect, I hereby release most of L3
in its current state as L3Lab, a laboratory for examining DAT files.

Wow!  I finally got around to trying this out.  It's just amazing.  Anyone
care to hazard a guess at how long it took to render all of Datsville?

51.47 seconds, and only on a PII 200 Mhz machine.  With Line-as-stud
selected, it's just 24 seconds.  Of course at 5% view size, you can't see
many details, but this will be perfect for getting sections of Datsville
right.  I'm re-energized to get moving on this again.

A couple of things I'd love to see added to this:

Ability to drag the object to move it into view (or at least be able to add
x- and y-offsets.)

Can L3 work with LDAO's editor, like LDLite does?  That would be great for
part creation, too.

And, of course, bitmap output would be great.

Again, great work!

As you may know I have been cooking on this L3 program for more than two years now (not that this tells anything about its size and quality ;-) However, I believe L3 now has so many useful features that many of you (especially part authors) also (...)
