It seems to call POV-Ray on some attempts. Then on other attempts it seems to
be calling ldglite. When it does call ldglite, it opens the ldglite.exe
window, but theres no action.
Just checked... its creating the .dat files and the .pov files for the
instruction steps, but wont seem to create the images to match.
It will create the complete model image, but not the steps.
Help?

Ive never used LPub much. I did use it when working out getting LDView to work
as a renderer. Ironically, despite the amount of time Ive spent developing
LDView, I dont make many LDraw models.
I just tried LPub to see if I had problems. It worked fine for me when I did
the following:
- Downloaded LPub marked as 2.4.10.0 (which reports 2.3.0.10 when installed)
- Launched LPub and pointed it to my LDraw directory
- Clicked on the Renderer tab, then hit the LDView button
- Pointed it at LDView 3.0 (latest official LDView release, NOT my development version of LDView)
- Made sure I had an LPub preference set in LDView that was configured the way I wanted things to look
- Loaded car.dat
- Ran Generate->Complete Model
- Ran Generate->CSIs, PLIs and BOM
- Ran Generate->CSI Web Pages
The above seemed to work fine. As pointed out before, ldglite and LDView will
produce very similar images. Since Im the author of LDView, Im familiar with
it and tested with it. To the best of my knowledge, LDView has the following
advantages over ldglite when used for LPub:
- Better transparency (not stipple). Its not as good as POV, but I think it looks a lot better than stipple.
- Curve smoothing (often not visible with instruction images, but sometimes quite visible).
- Option to put Lego logo on studs (probably not visible on instruction images, and realistically probably just adds clutter to the image).
I havent compared the performance of LDView in LPub vs ldglite. As far as I
know ldglite is always faster, but LDView is definitely a whole lot faster than
POV-Ray. If you want the best performance using LDView from LPub, Id recommend
setting LDViews memory usage setting to Low in LDViews LPub preference set.
While it might seem that this would slow things down, it speeds up the initial
loading of the file. Since LPub only needs one frame, and not real-time
updates, faster loading is the most important.
