  minifig arm

I'm working my way through the LEGO Software Power Tools book (I'm new to MLCAD) and I notice the minifig arms illustrated in the book are different than the ones I have available. The ones in the book are tapered nicely, while mine aren't, and they (...) (21 years ago, 26-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Primitives with different BFC winding

It's been a rainy day here, so did a lot of LDrawing ;-) Today I found out how to use cyls and cyls2 primitives :-) I created, updated and finished a few parts. Making my parts BFC compliant I noticed that several primitives of the same class have (...) (21 years ago, 26-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: MLCAD for Linux :D

(...) Jusr read the Wine documentation, it appears having people use the ./tools/wineinstall script in the wine source directory is the recommended way to install Wine, instead of my description. (21 years ago, 26-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Re: Error in part 3867.dat? (Baseplate 16 x 16)

Niels Karsdorp <nkp.nkp@hetnet.nl> schrieb im Newsbeitrag news:HDy23o.vqI@lugnet.com... (...) I have a correct 3867.dat in my library. If others have else a correct one then it must be an error in your part. CU Bernd (21 years ago, 26-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: MLCAD for Linux :D

(...) OK quick rundown. Required: - Working Linux system with X11+windowmanager installed (I use KDE only, but any windowmanager should work) Also check (URL) for other requirements wine itself has (gcc etc etc) I chose to work with the Wine source (...)   Re: MLCAD for Linux :D

(...) Perhaps Wine wasn't set up properly? I downloaded the 20030408 CVS release, did a generic ./configure | make | sudo make install , while logged in as regular user. (21 years ago, 26-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Error in part 3867.dat? (Baseplate 16 x 16)  [DAT]

When I started to create a model using the baseplates 3867, I noticed a stud missing. Digging into the file I found the cause: Line 244 said: 1 16 150 0 -13071 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 stud.dat And this needs to be 1 16 150 0 -130 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 stud.dat (...) (21 years ago, 26-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad)

  Crazy, OK Heretical Idea ...

I've been kicking this idea around in my head for a while and I'd like to throw it out for discussion. I think the ldraw specification needs to evolve in order to take the great work that James started and make it into the "toy" that everyone really (...) (21 years ago, 26-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: The big question

I want to preface my answer with a few thoughts. I've seen what amazing potential these tools have in all aspects of the LEGO hobby. People from all over the world have written me talking about how they have applied LDraw to what they do. Whether (...) (21 years ago, 26-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: A New LDraw editor.

(...) Well, I gave it the largest file I had (1526 parts) and it froze up on me. I stepped back a bit and gave it a file with 398 parts. This rendered fine but I did notice some rotation errors. -Orion (21 years ago, 26-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad)

  The big question

No, I'm not getting married. ;-) All of this LDraw standards and organization talk has gotten me thinking...about LDraw.org and it's mission, if you will. So I'd like to throw out a question: What do you think LDraw.org's role is in the LDraw/LEGO (...) (21 years ago, 26-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: MLCAD for Linux :D

(...) why use winzip? most linux installs come with zip/unzip! so on my redhat 7.2, all I did was - download mlcad. - download the dats - unzip dats - unzip mlcad - run "wine MLCAD.EXE" (...) huh - I was running it as a non-root user. Odd. Dan (22 years ago, 26-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Re: MLCAD for Linux :D

Pretty much, just install wine, then use it to install winzip. use wine to unpack the ldraw parts. run winzip under wine to unzip mlcad run mlcad under wine : ) There are some functions that don't work even with the latest version of Wine, but (...) (22 years ago, 26-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Re: A New LDraw editor.

Thanks for the feedback. If you have the time give it a file with a couple of hundred parts. I don't know what it will do. Should just work but slowly. If you do please let me know what happens. Good or bad its all useful. Thanks again --Dan. (...) (22 years ago, 26-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: A New LDraw editor.

(...) I should follow this up -- I didn't mean these observations to be critical. I forgot to insert the basis for my assertion above. MLCad does it this way, and LEdit does as well, so it's 'how it's always been done,' and could cause confusion for (...) (22 years ago, 25-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: A New LDraw editor.

  Minifig vest sticker

After about a year I thought to finish the warning pattern sticker for the minifig vest (vest = 3840.dat). All my real stickers are a little worn out, but I managed to find a used stickersheet in an ideabook which had the borders around the stickers (...) (22 years ago, 25-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: A New LDraw editor.

  Re: MLCAD for Linux :D

Hi, this is nice to hear. Maybe you could write a more detailed description what is needed to run MLCad on Linux? This way I could make this information public in a seperate Linux section on my host, and even more users are able to use MLCad. (...) (22 years ago, 25-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)
