Re: Ropes, Flex Tubes, Rubber Bands, et. al.

(...) Thanks for the link! I've downloaded the file, read through the readme.txt, and will definitely be using this. It is essentially exactly what I was looking for ... I'm sure I'll be able to simulate nearly all of the hoses, pipes, and conduits (...) (22 years ago, 31-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  LDRAW Viewer and L3P

I just noticed that L3P and LDRAW Viewer do not play well together. Running an LDRAW Viewer file through L3P produces a ".pov" file that contains only 1 black brick. On a hunch, I ran the LDRAW Viewer file through BBEdit and saved the file with Unix (...) (22 years ago, 31-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

  ldraw viewer 0.4 observations

I uninstalled Fruit Menu to see if it was the source of my crashes, but now after using contextual menu to change color of a brick, mouse clicks register about 30 pixels to low. When I click on a brick, I wind up selecting the brick two bricks down, (...) (22 years ago, 30-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

Re: Excellent rendering with MegaPov 0.7 (long post)

(...) Well, you shouldn't actually replace the definitions but place them after line 16 (#declare BUMPNORMAL = normal { bumps 0.01 scale 20 } and before the line saying: # declare 07071 = sqrt(0.5);. Remove the lines #declare AMB = 0.4; and #declare (...) (22 years ago, 30-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: Excellent rendering with MegaPov 0.7 (long post)

(...) Thanks! (...) Well, I rendered a model by James Mathis (ICE train) with radiosity and camera-blur and Mega-Pov + POV-Ray 3.1 was SEVEN TIMES FASTER than POV-Ray 3.5! I also liked the overal picture rendered by MegaPov better, a bit softer if (...) (22 years ago, 30-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Hi Jeroen - This looks great! I plugged it into MegaPOV and replaced my color definitions in a POV file with your code. MegaPOV is having a hard time understanding your statements: #if (BUMPS) normal { BUMPNORMAL } #end Any tips? Thanks!! -Tim (...) (22 years ago, 30-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Hej Jeroen, a BIG thanks to you for this extensive and clear post about how to get 'excelent rendering results' (ERR...) with MegaPov 0.7 but(yes), me is one of those lazy guys... so, how about a comparison between Povray3.5 and MegaPov 0.7 in both (...) Hi All, I've been working diligently on LDrawing my Hudson 4-6-4 Steam Engine ((URL) and am finally running up against the seemingly impossible: Is there a way to modify pieces so that they bend and curve?   Re: New primitive box3-2.dat (was Re: What's up with box3#8.dat?)

Chris, I'm alright with the 'u' convention. It'd be wicked cool if someone sat down and figured out all the possible box configurations (there can't be *that* many of them), so we could have a clearer idea of what we're trying to describe. Then (...) (22 years ago, 30-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)
