  Re: BFC: LITS 2

(...) I've kept thinking about it, and I don't see a solution. There are some algorithms that can figure out the normal/inverted question in some cases, but these algorithms would be too slow to implement in a rendering program. And they are not (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: '59 Caddy Hovercar Raytraces

this is quite cool, bram. i particularly like the use of pink elements and the bubble over the cockpit/driver's seat. it opens up a whole new range of possibilities (flying versions of classic cars). good stuff! ..joseph g (...)   Re: Is James' website finally gone for good?

(...) Tim, do you want to ask them, as the head honcho of ldraw.org content? Jacob, do you have a copy of James' site-files? I do, if you don't. Oops--I just checked, his site is back online.   Re: Mladen's HW Police Copter (alternate colors)

thanks, john i've also done that color scheme (i call it space police III) for a couple of my own models just for fun. if you liked the sub-theme color-swapping check out roger rothhaar's page, (URL) got some very cool models (mobile outpost and (...)   Re: 71184 Bar 4.5L Straight is too short

(...) I don't have the fix, but I did locate it on lugnet.cad.dat.parts. Normally, I'd require you to e-mail me the fix before I'd put it in an official release, but since you're a good modeler, I'll let it go this once. Just don't tell anyone. ;) (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Some Words To BFC

(...) OK, here's a counter-proposal: don't require all parts/primitives to be BFC'able, and allow both BFC-ready and BFC-not-ready files in the same rendering. This reintroduces the concept of having a single meta-statement at the start of each (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Horse Progress Report

(...) It's looking good. I think your mesh is fine. BTW, you can dissassemble a horse using a letter opener. The two halves of the body are just friction-fit together, not permanently connected (ie, they are not glued, cemented, nor welded). I think (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

recommendation for stl2dat (was Re: Are anybody working on the Star Wars Battle Droid arms?)

A few recommendation when using CAD -> convert program(ex:stl2dat) to modelise parts: - The tesselation paramater should be set so that a regular cylinder is output with 16 facets. In Solidworks, this is done by setting the minimum angle to 22.5 deg (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

(...) Thanks. Also thanks to Solidworks team for their powerful tool ! (...) Yes. The STL format says that the triangles must be CW, so of course stl2dat keeps this information. I did not yet add the BFC macro, I think I will add this for (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: '59 Caddy Hovercar Raytraces

I didn't know that about POV-ray. The only things I've rendered in it have been floating in space, so I've never tried something hovering over a reflective surface. Is the POV file available for download somewhere? I need a 1024x768 version for my (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, lugnet.town, lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: Some Words To BFC  [DAT]

Another impressive part, Marc. It looks like it needs little edgelines added where the "fins" slope down and meet the outer surface. The two fins that protrude into the outer surface have the lines, but the others don't. Great job! Does stl2dat (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
