  Re: The Beeesh

(...) I tend to agree with Adrian. This is old hat for you by now. The over-all form is nice, but some parts seem out of scale or out of place to me. The scale issues come from the comparative lengths between arms, legs, and torso. I'd expect the (...) (19 years ago, 10-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: The Beeesh

(...) I can't disagree more, I can see the new. There is no doubt that there is a lot in common with your other works. But I see lots of minute improvements. And I see the tech improvements. The tech is tighter, the visible gears aren't showing the (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: The Beeesh

(...) I'm talking about the designs and the style, not the gearing technology, which I dont particularly understand (nor really care about, honestly). (...) Judging by Eric's reply to me(1), I really don't think Eric cares one iota about my opinion. (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: The Beeesh

(...) That's a shame, because articulation is at least half of what defines a good mech. It's akin to ignoring SNOT work or greebling that is particuarily well done. (...) Fair enough, (exactly what I do as well) but I'm just voicing the flip side (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: The Beeesh

(...) Not so. Greeblings and SNOT work are both directly related to style and design. Articulation is more about the mechanics, and while it can effect design, it isn't the focus of design. The specifics of how the SNOT work is done (ie, using 1x1 (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: The Beeesh

(...) It's kinda funny, when I saw Eric's post initially, I had sort of the same reaction as Adrian. I saw the picture of another Sophie-Mech, and didn't bother clicking further. I happened to catch Adrian's post as it went by, and since have (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: The Beeesh

(...) Exactly so, the articulation structure will directly influence the exterior design. Not unlike muscle and skin on bone. It determines size, shape and flow. Not unkike how hidden SNOT work does the same. And more often than not, the gearing (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: The Beeesh

(...) When you start using gears and making joints, the building motivation changes somewhat. I'll build a new mecha only when I have a new idea for a joint. If all the joints are the same as a previous model, then it doesn't seem like progress even (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: The Beeesh

(...) Sir, get a clue. I created my first purpose built Mecha in 1988. I have pursued a study in Mecha building for most of my adult life. I have very personnal reasons for building the way I do.   Re: The Beeesh

(...) Really? I mean, I'm not trying to say your MOC's are somehow any less valuable, but I personally have seen enough of them such that they don't really interest me anymore. It'd be a shame if you genuinely want me NOT to check out your MOC's. (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: The Beeesh

Joint technology is what sets mecha building apart from other styles. Eric does what he does well. His gearing and joint tech change with each model. If you don't notice the changes in how the legs spread apart, or how he incorporates a new technic (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Eric: Or you'll just have to wait for my Documentry. It is in progress. Dave: Neat! See, now THAT's different :) It's not every day you get to see a documentry on Lego builders.
