I checked this part with L3P this morning. What I got was:

I can't find an error in these lines, except they zero out the y
component to turn a conic into a ring. Does POV-Ray not work with this
type of transformation matrix? (or: did I make some other mistake, and
am now not seeing it?)
This needs to be worked out, because there was a discussion amongst the
primitives group to create new primitives as conics rather than rings,
and use the above technique (almost put technic) to achieve rings.
