Yah, it'll be fun to come up with ideas about their alliance in future.  The
idea was thrown out for comic releif before.

I can see a SM and his advisor, a Fleeb....

The other thing is that if Sea Monkeys can read minds, that pretty much
eliminates the choice of using manned craft against them...which means that
Alpha Team is out of luck on trying to attack with things other than
drones...but Ogel can still use his zombies...

I'm not sure about that.  I guess I should give a low down on the thoughts I
had on the SMs a little further down.

Point taken, so Alpha Team still has a chance:)

Oh yeah, when I was working for corporate America (I won't name the company,
but it rhymes with Fate Starm), I thought about this stuff non-stop.  It
helped the time go by.  Lesson learned; life is too short- take the risks
that will make you happy, but I digress....

I have a slightly lengthy drive to and from work, so my thinking happens
then...and yep life IS too short!

Let's keep this thread going in .aquazone.  Though it may appear the two of
us are having a lone conversation, someone may have a cool idea who's been
reading along.  I want the Sea Monkeys to be owned by the Lugnet community
since its conception was born from it.

No problem!

Let me give some brief thoughts about the way I had been thinking about SMs
and that might aim our building ideas.  I had envisioned thier telepathey as
limited; so, the SMs of a village could communicate with each other
unlimited, but further distance would require technical assitance (like some
kind of telepathy enhancement device).  Telepathy is weird; a lot of our
society is based on the quest to communicate ideas through words and art.

A town would perhaps have a central telepathy net, and art would be a
different thing altogether.

But, in a society where they could read thoughts and emotion, the social
interaction would have to be totally different.  So, what is important to
SMs?  If they're fighting the spacers, then why?  Is there something they
understand that humans don't?

Hm, this is something I will have to think about. My immediate thought about
the SMs is that they are environmentally aware, so that they resent the
encroachment of humans in their environment. Having been sheltered from the
upper world the SMs have seen the effects of humans 'up there.'

In terms of building, that would mean that the word to use to describe their
tech is organic. Maybe patterned after coral reefs, where everything is
alive in one way or another. And maybe that's the understanding that the SMs
have over humans...they understand how delicate the balance of life is and
are threatened by the humans offsetting the balance., which would make a fun
storyline.

Now if you want to get extreme, what could happen with this is that the SMs
want  to ultimately take control of the seas, perhaps to the point of coming
up with a way of raising the sea levels.

Furthermore, the Fleebnorks could provide onething that the SMs don't have:
flying ability. And the Fleebs would want to rule the land and air...don't
ask me why, because I haven't thought that far:)

In thinking about the SMs, what might be important to them is the tactile
and physical... And if they live in a continual noise of thoughts from one
another, what might be terrifying to them is silence. And  that is  why they
are fighting, because they have seen the silence approach after humans have
explored and used their lands.

As far as building, I wanted to throw something up on the site with
suggestions.  For example, SMs probably wouldn't have wheeled vehicles.  I
also think SM creations should look as organic as possible.  But I'm open
for suggestion.

I spent some time thinking about this while I was building the AttackCrab,
and I agree that wheels are a foreign concept to the SMs. And organic is
another thing that I would expect from the SMs. Most, if not all of the SM
crafts would be based by the environment that they live in, so fish shapes
and other sea animals would be emulated.

(...) I totally agree. If they were telepathic, its likely they would have a better understanding of the environment and somehow be at harmony with it. So, humans would be the ultimate invasive species (the biologist in me is coming out). With (...) (21 years ago, 12-Feb-03, to lugnet.aquazone)
