I'm posting from tree view so just picked one to hang my post on.

First let me say that Frank's proposed guidelines/rules are better this
iteration than ever, he's really getting good at it!

In lugnet.admin.terms, Matthew Miller writes:

"I desperately need a few 2x4x3 flibber-globbits (any color) for spaceship
I'm working on. If you've got some, check out my post in .market.bst."

Ok in .space?

I think this one is... and I'll tell you why. A point to ponder. What's the
difference between someone who wants to sell something and someone who wants to
buy something. Theoretically, nothing. But actually, a great deal.

If someone is selling something, especially something common, it's very fair
to expect that they confine themselves.

But suppose someone is trying to find something extremely hard to find,
something that the random market isn't going to cough up. Within reason, I'd
argue that an occasional post pleading with the community to help him find his
craving ("does anyone have the black helmet visor/plume from 375?? It's the
last thing I need to be castle complete, I'd even settle for a chance to see
a picture of it up close") is a lot less annoying than the chappie who's
flogging 100 surplus Timmys.

Maybe each poster gets to do this ONCE. No making a habit of it.

Again, the guy who wants to get something unusual may spark all sorts of
valuable and creative discussion about how to get around that need that
benefits everyone. The guy who wants to dump something almost certainly won't.
(1)

Just something to ponder. Not necessarily advocating it.

Having said that, I'd rather see a ban on all market activity outside of
.market than what we have now, which unfairly discriminates against auctions.
It IS a double standard, unless, as Todd says, AucZILLAs (2) basically just
gouge people, and that's the differeentiator. Hogwash.

1 - well, you might get some slightly amusing suggestions about what to do with
the Timmys but that's only funny once.

2 - and all other auctions
