Yup, I agree. I was mostly speaking to the .theme groups, I suppose. They
are more inherently discussion - the .loc groups are a different mammal, in
several ways.

Well, ok. I've noted which groups I feel are appropriate below...

.general - if the post doesn't have more than this, it's a request for info.

.market, could be x-psoted to .space if there was more about the spaceship.

.loc.foo (the auction reference sounds and looks, IMO, like humour)

.market.bst, x-posted to .space -This is a very grey area post, and as a one-
off, should be taken at face value (request for info), but if the poster does
this sort of post repeatedly, it may be worthwhile asking them to post more
clearly.
I just feel that there would be less confusion if all of the market traffic
was treated the same way. Auctions are personally more noise to me because
they limit my options (must have money) as opposed to trades (must have
money/sets/parts/whatever), but IMO, both of them are equally inappropriate
and equally noise for a group aimed at discussion. Recently, I've been
finding bst posts more "offensive" than auction posts - but that's only
because I've seen more of them.

| (...) I disagree that there is a "double-standard" (but that's just wording), but I agree that it would go a long way toward eliminating gray areas -- if the boundaries could be defined clearly (which I'm very skeptical of). Some things to figure (...) (25 years ago, 11-Apr-00, to lugnet.admin.terms) !
