Hi Marc,
since I accepted responsibility, I thought about things like this and I
always kept exactly this specific example in mind. So now somebody catched me
on the hop finally :-)
As you may know, dealing with all kinds of issues regarding the Third Reich
is more intricate in Germany than in other countries, there’s still a pretty
inhibited received opinion. But that doesn’t mean a lot in legal regards.
It’s not per se forbidden to show national socialist signs, e.g. the
swastika. The context is decisive.
Like in the movie The Downfall (which
I can, BTW, warmly recommend!) and many other german movies, showing those
signs is OK, as well as on historic models, in satires etc.pp. In general, as
long as there’s historical background and the object in question isn’t
glorifying the NS, everything should be within limits.
As for the very specific example you refered to: Well, one could argue that
AAMOF it was meant satiric. Aiming at Hitler’s megalomania or at the Nazi’s
alleged secret projects (think of the flying saucer rumors)...
Please note: This has nothing to do with my personal opinion, it’s just
keeping it in perspective.

Thanks for the clarification, Rene. I’m glad to hear that the German laws
against Nazi symbols aren’t as restrictive as I had feared.
