Well, I think it would be a good idea to meld the Harry Potter
Newsgroup, and change it to lugnet.fantasy. The newsgroup generally
gets few posts, and I see a lot of HP creations on Lugnet.castle, anyway,
so I think a .fantasy newsgroup is in order. All LOR, HP, DROP, and all
other fantasy creations to the extreme would be placed there. IOM, I think
the new newsgroup would draw generally more traffic, and help to equalize
.castle, from distinctive castle creations, to more fantasy oriented. I don't
think fantasy isn't suitable for castle, but I think a little separation
is necessary. Remember, Fantasy is castle, but it isn't...fantasy could
also be modern, futuristic, you name it...anyway, it is a completely
different genre than castle, so, I'm for it when it comes to changing HP
to .Fantasy.

Well, .harrypotter will stay because there is a lugnet.{theme} group for every
official theme or system, no matter how frequent or infrequent the posting.

The question about moving stuff out of .castle is if anyone is actually
bothered by such traffic. If not, then there is no real reason to move stuff
out. Then the next question is where to hold discussions which are not
currently there. The default place to discuss stuff which doesn't have a group
is .general. If there is a group which is close, and probably interested, then
that group may be a good place to post until the traffic becomes objectionable
(for example, a lot of discussion of ships in general goes on in .pirate and no
one has complained, though sometimes discussion is moved to .boats or
.build.military, or even .castle).

Based on all of this, I don't see a need to open a new group right now, but
others may have a different opinion.

Frank,

I don't think Kevin (the original poster) is seeking to have things move out
of .castle but he wants a place for the type of fantasy that he does not
feel belongs in .castle nor .space in the first place. He is not seeking the
elimination of theme based groups. He wants a fantasy equivalent to .ancient
or .military who both found a home in .build.

I think of this as a divergance from .castle like .mecha (also in .build)
was from .space.

Jude
