  Re: Language Choices and LUGNET

In lugnet.admin.suggestions, Mark Jordan wrote: snipped out some great suggestions. (...) Lugnet is a different then many forums because of personal disclosure of names.   Re: Language Choices and LUGNET

(...) I'm glad you said that, because its true, and an uncomfortable fact. I was trying to find a way of saying it myself, but couldn't figure it out. Here are some thoughts on how to minimise the "bad fun" effect. Maybe I am lazy, but I'm more (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jan-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Public comments of sets in database

Personal opinion follows (...) Seems a good list to me. (...) Nod. you COULD argue the ToS aleady addresses this in that it talks about all submitted data, but on the other hand a lot of stuff in there applies to "Discussion Groups" and that ought (...)   Re: Public comments of sets in database

(...) I would expect that the TOU should be changed from describing behavior in discussion groups to simply behavior on Lugnet. Theoretically, in addition to the set database, you've got: - curators putting data on the newsgroup front pages - (...) (21 years ago, 25-Jan-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Direct link to member pages from newsgroups

(...) Has there been any activity on this suggestion? BTW, thanx for adding the "Sign in" link to the home page. I don't know when it appeared, but it's very useful. Thanx, whoever you are! KDJ ___...___ LUGNETer #203 (21 years ago, 23-Jan-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

Re: Public comments of sets in database

(...) It would seem to me that it's no different than a message post---the same "guidelines" should apply. I think whether it's a post, a database entry, a member page, an FTX page, whatever, if the domain name says lugnet.com, the same standard of (...)   Re: Public comments of sets in database

(...) Eww, ya, that's gross. To answer your question -- Is it technically possible? Yes. Is it obligatory? No. Is it warranted? That's a very good question -- and a tough one. Obviously, this doesn't actually answer your question, however. (...) (21 years ago, 23-Jan-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

Public comments of sets in database

Is it possible for LUGNET administrators to cancel or edit vulgar comments that people write in the field that is publicly viewable in the set database? The reason I ask is this: (URL) guy's description of the price for that set in France just makes (...) (21 years ago, 22-Jan-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)

  Re: Response highlighting

(...) (URL) My old Post> I'm one of the ones that brought this up before. And I'd argue that I think it needs to come up again. Especially if more and more people chime in that they are getting annoyed at seeing our "highlighted" stories over-run (...) (21 years ago, 22-Jan-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

  Inventory Suggestion

I have a suggestion that would make keeping one's personal inventory up-to-date easy and automatic. Could we have a feature on Bricklink so that orders for whole sets could be added to one's LUGNET set list (which would then be added to Peeron's My (...)   Re: Response highlighting

Snip... (...) I, too, do not like the color change. However, I believe that a ‘letter’ to TLC regarding such would have been better presented on a website with a form that users could complete, sans debate. Anyhow, that’s not why I am writing (...)   Re: Response highlighting

Hey, I do think there are some potential administrative "solutions" (assuming that all agreed that this was a problem). The weightings of .announce posts or .off-topic could be adjusted up- or downwards to increase MOC discussion. The idea of being (...) (21 years ago, 20-Jan-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

  Re: Response highlighting

(...) That's exactly why I've started doing it (and have avoided, no matter how annoyed I get, making any sort of response to the .color or letter-based nastiness). Lead by example (well not so much 'lead' as 'participate') (21 years ago, 20-Jan-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

(...) And that's another anticrossposting argument I have.... it circumvents weightings. For the record Ben has apologised for his inappropriate excessive crossposting. (...)   2004 posting statistics (was Re: Posting statistics)

(...) I don't remember if I did this for last year, but here's this year's. If there's interest, I can post last year's as well.   Response highlighting

I don't have time to do an exhaustive search of this newsgroup to see if this issue has been resolved, but I know it has come up. Please let me know if this is old news that doesn't need to come up anymore. But, can we do something about these (...) (21 years ago, 20-Jan-05, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)
