| I don't understand all the problems about blown IR-LEDs and don't believe anyone will ever see 1A flowing through his IR-LED's. | (...) I think that the datalogging area is just a special limited firmware array, but , IIRC, since it mentions nowhere that you have to remember to keep the datalog size into account. | (...) Yes. When you set the power for an output port actually you select the duty cycle of a square wave. The granularity depends on firwmare. | (...) RCX->PC is difficult because of the tower hardware. The tower shuts off a few seconds after it completes transmission to save power. | I have to share good news about my RCX and ir transmitter, I have tried just about every firmware that is available for download on the net. When using a tip from someone on the list I tried the Lego firmware 2.0 beta and got the ir transmitter anbd (...) (23 years ago, 22-Jun-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| One of my fellow researchers had trouble along this line. The RCX just refused to take the firmware. I did hear somewhere that florescent lights interfere with the IR. Try shielding the IR Tower and the RCX somehow. Maybe put them aimed directly at (...) (23 years ago, 22-Jun-01, to lugnet.robotics)

| (...) The wierd thing about the bytecodes provided by lego for direct serial communication (used by SendSerial() etc.) is that they are Tx only - there aren't any corresponding Rx capabilities. | Dan, I had the same problem with a newly purchased RCX - turned out to be the tower. I rang Lego support, they did some trouble-shooting and finally told me to take it back and get a replacement.
