  Lego WIndows Complaint (still)

The single biggest complaint I have about TLG is that unlike 40 years ago, today there is no "system" for windows. Yes they have 2x2 windows in white, 1x4x5 windows in black, and other sizes in other colors currently available. But there is no (...) (20 years ago, 10-Jun-04, to lugnet.general)

Re: What's Your Favorite German Word?!

A good example of schadenfreude is the feeling you get when you find out that greedy corporate executives go to jail for their (...)   Re: Samsonite LEGO - 005 Discovery Set

(...) Eric, The 005 set you are talking about probably came out around 1967 or so. The 001, 002, 003, and 004 sets first came out in 1965. (I have the Samsonite catalogs for 1961, 1963, 1965, 1966, 1968 and the dealer catalog for 1970.) The 005 set (...) (20 years ago, 11-Jun-04, to lugnet.general)

Were the first American Lego sets (1961) ever produced?

Jake, I know you are busy, but could you please refer this question to someone who might know. Lego came to the USA via licensee Samsonite (and Schwayder Bros.) of Denver Colorado in 1961. Here is a copy of that first catalog that came with all sets (...) (20 years ago, 12-Jun-04, to lugnet.lego.direct)

(...) Well, I stand corrected! Some of you folks did an excellent job, even with the handicap of not having windows! My hats of to you guys! By the way, although I don't have a ready picture of my 35 story Esso Tower, or 25 story One Shell Plaza, I (...) (20 years ago, 14-Jun-04, to lugnet.general)

(...) OK, I messed up the URL (thanks Tim) on the Samsonite Lego catalog website. Here it is: (URL) my opinion, this #717 box is one of the most attractive boxes TLG has ever produced. If it was actually sold, this model would require (9) of the (...) (20 years ago, 13-Jun-04, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general)

  Say YES to Michigan!

Hi Jake, Just an FYI for you to pass onto your Lego Stores folks. As is often the case the 2 coasts (east coast and west coasts) seem to get a lot of the attention, and when there is some attention given "middle America" it usually goes to Chicago. (...)   Modified Lego and new uses for old pieces.

Although I don't condone modifying Lego, I have to say I don't discourage it either. One example that I use, is removing faces off of Minifig heads. A few alcohol wipes do nicely. I get some nice 1x1 fat round bricks this way. I have already (...) (20 years ago, 14-Jun-04, to lugnet.general)

Announcing new comprehensive book on Lego on CD.

OK folks, Here it goes..... I have spent the last 11 months writing a new book on Lego. It will be released not as an actual book, but as a CD (IBM and MAC compatible!!!) It is about 80% done, and so far has 105,000 words on 300 pages. There will be (...) (20 years ago, 19-Jun-04, to lugnet.announce) !!

(...) Well thanks for the encouragement folks! The main reason that I came out with this information early was that I could get feedback from AFOLs. One possibility would be to give you folks an option, by coming out with both a book and a CD. Also (...) When Lego sloped bricks came out in 1958, TLG created an entire system of slopes, namely 13 different ones.   Lego in a Smoking Environment

I've read a lot about Lego from "smoke free" environments. Have a lot of AFOL's had problems with "smoky" Lego? In the cd/book I have come to the conclusion that there are 2 types of "smoke" environments (just the legal ones ;-) ). #1 When I was (...) (20 years ago, 29-Jun-04, to lugnet.general)
