Big Brother is Watching (and reading, too!)

Well, it only took one day after my posting and a very friendly person (who asked me to keep her name off this newsgroup) from Lego Systems called me and wanted to let me know that (this is paraphrased from memory): "You had posted something on the (...)   Back to the world of LEGO

Hi Folks, After a 3 week hiatus, I am back. I was able to read LUGNET from my home EMAIL (gistok@earthlink.net), but not post. I was going to take summer off (from work) when my contract with the University of Michigan expired. However, after 3 (...) (24 years ago, 14-Aug-00, to lugnet.general)

Planning on a new History of LEGO Windows....

I noticed that my DEJA News posts about the history of classic LEGO windows has been aged off (it's gone!). That is no problem, because I want to do a brand new post on the subject. Last week I received another European Dealers Windows & Doors box (...) (24 years ago, 14-Aug-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

Yeah, I've heard it pronounced both ways. I stayed in Oxford for a while, and Gloucester Green is the name of the bus station there. Perhaps its pronounced differently in Oxfordshire. Gary Istok (...) (24 years ago, 17-Aug-00, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.general, lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Planning on a new History of LEGO Windows....

(...) Thanks Ben. That would make version 5. But I assume version 5 only applies to the 1x2x2 windows, since none of the others have been made in the 1990's? (Or were they?). Maybe what I should say, rather than "they don't exist" (for classic (...) (24 years ago, 15-Aug-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

  Macaroni Bricks...

I just got a LEGO package yesterday from a seller in Germany. And among them were about 50 old macaroni bricks in different colors. I was surprised to find that 5 of them were red macaroni bricks WITHOUT the missing "notch" of plastic that all of (...) (24 years ago, 15-Aug-00, to lugnet.general)

Re: Planning on a new History of LEGO Windows....

Thanks Ben, I wasn't sure, but I thought that the 1x1x1 and 1x1x2 in black did not exist. That leaves only the 1x1x2 and the 1x2x2 as existing classic black windows/doors. I believe that the gray 1x2x3 classic door does NOT exist in gray. There was (...) (24 years ago, 15-Aug-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

(...) Steve, based on the size you just described, I am pretty confident that you have the USA/Canada Samsonite parts packs from the early 1960's (the box sizes are too large to be European Parts packs).   New Main LUGNET page is missing...

Todd, I was trying to get to the LEGO Company page from the new Main LUGNET page, and I cannot. So I had to go to the old LUGNET page to access it. Is this an oversight? Or on purpose? Gary Istok (24 years ago, 18-Aug-00, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Harry Potter (Film) Set

However it is pronounced, Gloucester Cathedral would make a great Harry Potter location, as well as a model for a LEGO Cathedral.   Re: Help wanted finding which 60's sets I've got. [Long parts list]

Benjamin, When there are very few specialty parts (like in the 60's and early 70's), it becomes very difficult to determine what sets you have. The one thing that strikes me is the 20 macaroni bricks. They are from the parts pack (#224) or possibly (...) Benjamin, I believe (and I'm only 95% sure on this one) that the ONLY sets that had the 1x1 white numbers and letters were the parts packs (planpacks in UK). The numbers are (letters/numbers) 234/237(late 50's-early 60's), 487/488 (mid 60's) , (...) (24 years ago, 23-Aug-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.db.inv)
