Well, I’m back. Here’s some of the stuff I built over the last few months:

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=68098

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=68101

A nasty-looking MBT.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=68099

A little PCS Hovertank.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=68103

A low-orbit fighter.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=68104

Another exercise in excessive greebling.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=68110

A small Pirate fighter.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=68113

Redesigned better than ever, a Main Battle Landmate.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=68115

Misc. military hardware.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=68118

Part one of my little tribute to Travis.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=68116

Part two, a Hover Jaguar.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=68122

A little PCS Rover.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=68123

One of the most wrong MOCs ever.

Enjoy!

Simply amazing. I have dial-up access, and it’s still worth the time to go through every picture. I did notice one problem though. The picture at http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=621079 appears to be incomplete. Maybe a bad EOF? Anyway, if LEGO ever goes on a militant streak, I hope they use your MOC’s as inspiration for their sets.

Could be. I’m not quite used to my new camera yet.

Thanks. I really enjoy building tanks, I ought to do a scale replica sometime.

Soren,

This is some of the best stuff I’ve ever seen. The pirate fighter is what tickles my fancy the most -

These creations have everything that makes space great: Bold, creative use of parts and snot; Challenging and innovative design concepts; and creative use of color.

Awesome.. hands down awesome. Posts like this make me wish there was something better than “spotlight”

Cool. I'm hoping to turn Space Pirates into a full-blown fantheme, so get those
bricks out and build something! It's the perfect fit, if you think about it:

PCS: blue, good
Eastern Bloc: red, evil
Pirates: yellow, avaricious

These creations have everything that makes space great: Bold, creative use of
parts and snot; Challenging and innovative design concepts; and creative use

Thank you. I've had a lot of time to refine and polish these models, and I'm far
too proud of them :). If I can make it to the August Brickfest, I'll keep them
in one piece so you can swoosh 'em.

Thanks. The Howler was inspired by a jet aircraft from “Wings of Honneamise”. If you can find it, it’s a great film.

The Cougar II has existed, in one form or another, for almost a year now. Building two identical tanks was pretty frickin’ challenging.

I don’t think it would make a very good space fighter. I like to experiment with new and bizarre shapes for non-atmospheric craft.

Hi Soren

I have been a silent fan of the Foxy Lady for some time now. I didn’t think you could beat that. But the Harrower? Wow, excellent stuff. I thought she was a mini MOC before the cockpit shot. I was getting a little anxious about the oversize cannon up to that point - but noooo! This little pirate ship rocks!

Enjoyment factor, off the chart! Thanks.

Hey Soren!

What can I say but 'You're the man!'. Sorry for the late reply but its better
late then never, right?

I really enjoy your models, I think most probably because of the boldness of
their design - especially in your SNOT, combat and scanner systems and other
large greebs. You have some great ideas (can I see some Mladen Pejic influence
in there?) and I have been eagerly awaiting your next pirate cruiser since your
last one.

The Farstrike is absolutely beautiful! I love its utilitarian lines and the way
that the two major hull sections are seperated by greebling. The colour scheme
is great, especially the use of different colours in the greebs. The combat
systems are excellent and I especially love the white scanner pods under the
bow.

Actually, the use of white with the light grey seems to fit very nicely but I'm
still not sure how I like it with the yellow. The greebs are excellent but I
found that the section behind the bridge seemed a bit like it didn't flow with
the same feel as the other greebs. I also love the masts that extend out/astern.
And the bridge mast is very cool.

Only one big problem though - can we get some interior pics?

The pirate fighter fits in well with the feel of the farstrike but at first I
thought it was a microfig scale ship. Perhaps it is the lack of obvious canopy
that does it...

That's about all I have to say. You've really inspired me so I may have to tear
down all of my existing models to go and start on a new space cruiser!

Stay spacey, and keep up the good work,

Thanks. I try to incorporate at least one new element/greeb/concept into each
model.

You have some great ideas (can I see some Mladen Pejic influence
in there?)

Yeah, I use Mladen's color-control techniques a lot. It's the only way to go,
IMO.

Another big inspiration is weird old SF artwork (Chris Foss, John Harris, etc.)
My major goal with this series of spacecraft is to build detail and grit into
every centimeter. Glad you like it, hope to see some of it in your own works.

and I have been eagerly awaiting your next pirate cruiser since your
last one.

Thanks. I'm currently refitting the old one, so look for a group shot sometime
soon. Better yet, get the bricks out and build a Space Pirate vessel of your
own!

The Farstrike is absolutely beautiful! I love its utilitarian lines and the way
that the two major hull sections are seperated by greebling. The colour scheme
is great, especially the use of different colours in the greebs. The combat
systems are excellent and I especially love the white scanner pods under the

Thanks again. I messed around with the upper section quite a bit before I
settled on the current configuration.

I'm really glad you like the greebs 'n' guns. I was experimenting a little with
the greebs, but the particle cannon are a standard asssembly, as are the missile
bays.

The little pods are actually remote cameras, also a standard assembly. Expect to
see more of them in the future.

Actually, the use of white with the light grey seems to fit very nicely but I'm
still not sure how I like it with the yellow. The greebs are excellent but I
found that the section behind the bridge seemed a bit like it didn't flow with
the same feel as the other greebs.

Yeah, I can't see much of a way around that. Next model, I'm gonna try some new
things.

I also love the masts that extend out/astern.
And the bridge mast is very cool.

Thanks. I like the naval feel the comm antennae add.

Only one big problem though - can we get some interior pics?

The problem with that is that there's not much interior. The conning tower is
the only place to have interior detail.

The pirate fighter fits in well with the feel of the farstrike but at first I
thought it was a microfig scale ship. Perhaps it is the lack of obvious canopy
that does it...

Thank you. I wanted to create a radically different type of fighter, and I ended
up dumping the canopy in the process.

That's about all I have to say. You've really inspired me so I may have to tear
down all of my existing models to go and start on a new space cruiser!

Cool. I'm eagerly awaiting the finished product.

Stay spacey, and keep up the good work

The rest of the stuff aside from the two above...I don’t really have much feelings for. To be blunt, I don’t like your aircraft, largely because they seem so heavily studded and plain. Some of the military stuff is decent, especially that very nice little gunturret/observation platform (Any chance of an MLCad file for it?). However..your new “Pirate Sty1e” is simply gorgeous. I first mistook the Harrower for a capship photographed at a distance, then for a microscale capship, and then finally began to let myself hope that it might even be a fighter..before seeing the picture of the cockpit. That fighter is one of the very very few I’ve ever seen that lacks a viewport/canopy in the conventional sense. It has a very strong “Homeworld” feel to it, and the color choice is powerful. With the exception of some elements of the cockpit, some very very subtle angles/bricks that seem off, I have to consider it to be the most perfect fighter posted on Brickshelf in quite some time. The corvette doesn’t quite follow the same style, but I’m dying to see a continuation of the theme, perhaps even some sort of comic-book exploration of the universe a la Daniel Jassim. And we can’t possibly let you get away with making that capship and not providing photos of the interior :P Absolutely stunning work, as always. Hope to see more soon!

Well, get the bricks out and build some Pirates! Thanks. I’m hoping to work the Pirates up into a fan-theme of their own.

Thanks. I don’t own Homeworld, but I like the style; the Homeworld craft were an inspiration for a lot of the Pirate craft, especially the color layout.

I generally don’t give Pirate craft viewports (or at least not big ones). I’m trying for the antithesis of PCS: Thick, blocky and vicious.

Cool. I’ve toyed aroung with the idea, but until my life settles down a bit, you’ll have to content yourself with MOC photos.

And we can’t possibly let you get away with making that capship and not providing photos of the interior :P

Ah, but you see, there isn’t an interior beyond the conning tower. That darn Fold System Cluster takes up too much space...

Absolutely stunning work, as always. Hope to see more soon!

Well, I’m not finished with the Space Pirates yet. I’ve got plans for a couple more ships at least.

Well, I'm back. Here's some of the stuff I built over the last few months:

Dude!  Wow!

So much good stuff...  wow.

Those MBTs are amazing!  All that detail.  I really love those white cylinders
sticking out of the side.  Really cool.

And so is the PCS one.  Still a good tank but quite different, smooth and clean.

The low orbit fighter is nice, too.  You've captured the look very well.  Nice.

And the Pirate Corvette... simply sweet.  All those greeblies are so cool... and
I love the shape and blockiness off it.  Its smooth, yet the little lines of
greebles really show it off.  And the detatching pods are neat, too.  Now, if
only there was more of an interior...  You know me.  I try to cram all the
interior I can get into anything and everything...

The next one really is cool, although I thing I like it more as a micro-fig
ship, too!  :)

And the hovermocs are really neat, too.  A good tribute.

So much good stuff, great to liven up Lugnet in these little doldrums...
although I know I haven't been too active recently, either.  But don't worry, in
a few days me and Zac are gonna post something big.  :)

The smoke dispensers? I'm rather fond of those, they gave me somewhere to use
all those revolvers.

Thanks. I was experimenting with those new sloped bricks, and I hit on the
turret design. The whole tank was built around the turret.

Thanks again. I've had it around for about a year now, finally had to post it.

Thanks. I tried to give it a bit of interior, but the space constraints of the
design interfered. Maybe on the next one, I'll have the space for more interior
goodness.

If you like the theme, build some Space Pirates of your own. I'd love to see
what you come up with.

Yeah, if only I could build three more, I'd be in heaven. Thnaks.

And the hovermocs are really neat, too.  A good tribute.

I feel a little melancholy about these. I originally intended to show them to
Travis, but he died just before I could post them...

Excellent building Soren, You have covered all your bases, from deep space, to infantry combat, to awesome robo-power suits and that thing! that monstrocity!

My only criticism is the lack of Trans-Florecent orange and no Galidor pieces anywhere.

Thanks. I like to jump around a bit.

Yeah, the Sheepnork (Fleep?) scares even me. It could be the undoing of all
Space...

Silence! Your homeworld will be singled out for Sheepnork carpet-bombing! :)

I've given away most of my trans-orange, and Galidor (jesus I feel slimy just
typing it...) holds no interest for me.
