Hi all, please see former discussion here: (URL) Thanks to all who were contributing ideas and suggestions. So here is -without much fuss- the 6th draft of a new homepage: (URL) Known bugs: Upper header section isn't displayed correctly in some (...)         Re: New homepage for LUGNET part 4 —Jason Allemann
(...) Rene, this is really coming together nicely. My few personal nits... The alternating background colours on the top stories links seems to just add clutter and detract from actualy reading the links. Is it really necessary? The text for the (...)          Re: New homepage for LUGNET part 4 —Ross Crawford
(...) I quickly snapped a version with the line backgrounds matching the box: (URL) I agree with Jason, I think with the gap between lines, this looks more pleasing, although there might need to be a line above the "More top stories", or something (...)          Re: New homepage for LUGNET part 4 —John Neal
(...) You know, in theory, it is supposed to let the eye find and locate the individual stories better, but I have to agree with you Jason-- for some reason, it seems to confuse my eye rather than help it. I find it easier to read the stories in a (...) (17 years ago, 21-Dec-06, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

Hi Jason, (...) I will try without them in #7. (...) Normally, me too. And though it is against WCAG, I also will try without it in #7. (...) Thank you very much! -Rene (17 years ago, 21-Dec-06, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

Re: New homepage for LUGNET part 4 —Ross Crawford
(...) This could be something that is easily configurable by the user - so I would still keep the 2 different styles, but give them the same colour in the default page style. ROSCO (17 years ago, 21-Dec-06, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

Re: New homepage for LUGNET part 4 —Brendan Powell Smith
(...) I think what bothers me (and maybe this is the case for others) is that these alternating colors are too disimilar--the contast between them is too much. I would suggest replacing the white color with the same light blue as the background of (...) (17 years ago, 23-Dec-06, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

Re: New homepage for LUGNET part 4 —Brendan Powell Smith
(...) Oh, hey! I just realized that you managed to squeeze in the Search feature by putting the label "Search LUGNET" inside the search box. I think that's a great solution. I guess it seemed so natural I didn't even notice at first. I still think (...) (17 years ago, 23-Dec-06, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

Re: New homepage for LUGNET part 4 —Roy Gal
(...) Looking nice! I agree that the alternating background colors in the top stories section is not needed, and that the boxes on the left and right should all have the same background color. I also think the vertical spacing in the center column (...) (17 years ago, 21-Dec-06, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

Re: New homepage for LUGNET part 4 —Orion Pobursky

Re: New homepage for LUGNET part 4 Rene Hoffmeister
(...) Hi Orion, I thought over the title-attribute in the top stories links which were hiding parts of the popup preview in earlier versions. Since they were only duplicating the actual link text, I removed the attribute and now the popup is at (...) (17 years ago, 23-Dec-06, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

Re: New homepage for LUGNET part 4 —Jordan Bradford
I haven't yet commented on the new design, but now I must say I that I like the most recent revision (#6?). I miss the quick links to deeper levels of the newsgroups, however -- they're on the current site in the lower left corner. I hadn't (...)      Here's a big 'me too' post (I know how annoying those can be, but I think it seems relevant here), but this last post summed things up for me well :) (...) Me too! (...) Me too.      Hi Brett, Jordan, thanks for your comments on this! First: (...) I'm not working on LUGNET to ignore people, but to listen to them :-) (...) I haven't considered them as important as they seem to be. Well, I guess I have to place them to the front (...) (17 years ago, 21-Dec-06, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

Rene- In my version of Firefox (the most current one, I believe), the SCLTC story still photo drops through the divider bar into the story below and forces the next story headline to the right. -Ted (17 years ago, 21-Dec-06, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

Re: New homepage for LUGNET part 4 Rene Hoffmeister
(...) Hi Ted, I'm just curious: Do you use a very wide screen solution (more than 1280px wide or no sidebars in your browser) or an individually set font size (less than default font size as defined by hitting STRG+0 in Firefox)? In each of these (...) (17 years ago, 21-Dec-06, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

Re: New homepage for LUGNET part 4 —Jude Beaudin

Re: New homepage for LUGNET part 4 —Mark Chan
My thoughts: Define what the LUGNET acronym stands for (Lego Users Group NETwork) somewhere on the homepage. It's a familiar word for us veterans - but for newer visitors, a definition would very helpful to add context/completeness. Either make it (...)
