Wow,  I really disagree with you.  I am mush more excited about this year's
offerings than those of the past few years.

The Life on Mars theme...

The 7315 shuttle's whole mid section is made of that filmy plastic
sheet...that's not LEGO, IMHO.

That isn't a big deal, IMHO.  While it does make that model a little flimsier,
the set is still full of great parts- including the plastic sheet, which will
be a good generic piece, since it's patterned with a solar-energy-collector
look.

The 7317 base is a really, really neat idea...but that pump is HUGE, and
the color scheme is so much like a Mega Blocs idea that I could have
sworn it was made by that company instead of LEGO.

I like the inclusion of all the purple.  I don't care if the color scheme is
Mega-Blox-y, as long as the pieces hold together with LEGO tolerances, instead
of falling apart like MB.

As for the others... I really like some of the Star Wars sets, including the
AT-ST and the Imperial Shuttle... I'm incredibly happy that *finally* we'll be
getting Stormtroopers, even if it takes a big pocketbook (for now) to get an
army of them.  I think that overall, the set designs for Life on Mars look
great, one of the best Space themes in years...

I'm a little saddened that there is no new Castle yet, and I really dislike the
fact that there is no indication of Town sets at all, but hey, I can build my
own Town models now- especially with the Bulk offerings giving out windows and
so on.

Overall, I'm more excited about the 2001 sets than I have been in years.
