Sorry to follow myself up:
Interesting notes abound on the fbtb scans Tim kindly
did of the 2001 brochure.
1) The top of the new TIE is a 4x4 radar with printing.
Then again, the AT-ST side panels are 4x4 dishes too.
2) There is indeed a black stormtrooper as pilot!
3) Finally the 6x6 "AT AT foot" piece is used as an AT-ST
foot.
4) The big open-mouth grin on that one Alpha Team guy is
really, really, *really* disturbing.
5) Is it my imagination, or have they made a piece to mate
click-hinges with Technic axles??? Oh, happy day! And
they have cylindrical extender segments too! This is kind
of cool, IMHO.
6) Trans-red and trans-blue canopies, and trans-red bricks!
And, finally, bad-guy faceless soldiers. This may be the
best year for lackeys since Blacktron I.
7) Watto's Junkyard: Finally, 8x8 flat discs in light grey,
and even then with an excellent pattern for general use.
Watto himself is made a la Chewbacca and the old Ghosts.
8) Darn. The TIE wings don't have 1x2 tiles, they have grilles.
Nothing else much to report, just getting started with the
excitement!

| I am usually pretty optomistic and I have liked many of the sub-par set designs that LEGO has done since '96. But 2001 is the WORST new catalog I've yet seen. Allow me to elaborate: The Life on Mars theme... The 7315 shuttle's whole mid section is (...) (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

| Yikes! Look at the size of those slopes that make up the top wing on the imperial shuttle! <set: 7166> (URL) can be deceiving, but it looks like they are something like 1 x 6 x 5 with two studs on the top. It looks like only two of them are the (...) (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001)
