Does anyone have any ideas for a pneumatic powered retarder for use in
WAMALUGs new hump yard(1)?   In real life, retarders are hydralic
powered machines that grab the wheels of freight cars was they roll
down the hump in a hump yard.  It functions to slow them down so they
don't hit the rest of the cars in the yard with too great a force.

1- we aren't building a hump yard, it's just something we were talking
about.... it would be cool though.

How about using the FO pieces rased using a pnumatic cylinder?  I don't imagine
that you would manage to build a hump yard except on a 'special' table, so the
mounting wouldn't be impossible, but they would work OK I think for use as
retarders.  (don't know, haven't tried it)
