figured out how to get the LEGO(r) magnet to work in this application. A
complete write up, with pictures, would greatly advance the state of the art
in this area.

*My* experiments?  NBL.  I'm a LEGO purist, remember?  I just pointed
out a possible LEGO solution to the problem, but I see now that it
won't work...
