I got mine in the was a week or so ago. I took off some of the grey pieces(including the lights in front) and replaed with black. Also added a small 1x1 round black smoke stack. VERY NICE any other modifacations out there? (26 years ago, 17-Oct-98, to lugnet.trains)

The Metroliner can go upwards of $300-$400. I think there may be one for auction on Ebay by Franz Koeck, whom I can personally vouch for. I don't have a Club Car myself, but I think I have seen it go for up to $150 MIB. Brian G. (...) (26 years ago, 13-Oct-98, to lugnet.trains)

From a collectors standpoint, this train is a must-have. You need to stay (9.0V) train complete! For playability, I think it's one of the best - it has those two over-head cranes, and the real-working scale is so cool. It's my (5 yr old) son's (...) (26 years ago, 12-Oct-98, to lugnet.trains)

Basically, just what the header says. I have avoided buying this train for a while now because I don't particularly like the look of it. I hope my message doesn't imply that I simply base value on money - the 7740 is my favorite Lego train of all time - I wouldn't sell mine for $500. The prices I mentioned are just observations of how much these items typically go for in auctions (...) (26 years ago, 9-Oct-98, to lugnet.trains)

Michael, I used dry transfer decals for my steam engine ((URL) You can find these at most train hobby stores. A word of caution though, they are not easy to put on. And, it's going to put a foreign substance on your LEGO bricks. I'm not sure what (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.trains)

I've done some experimenting with model train decals. You can buy dry decals and they apply quite easily and nicely onto LEGO bricks. O-scale prints match the LEGO train scale altough they might be a bit too big depending on your preference. As for (...) (26 years ago, 6-Oct-98, to lugnet.trains)

Mike - You'd probably be real close if you looked for O scale decals. I've seen other LEGO train-heads use Kadee O scale couplers instead of the standard cylindrical magnets, and they seem to apply nicely to the existing LEGO train scale. Perhaps O (...) (...) There are two cabooses done by Steve Barile on the PNLTC pages. They, and the "caboose" in the new TLG set are 2 axle. This is pretty rare for american prototype practice, most are 4 axle.
