Re: Academy of Music: Version Two

(...) Thanks for the comments! I've long admired your work and must admit it has inspired me. I agree with the bringing the model to life. This version seems much more like a live building to me then the old one. Glad you like it. Thanks again! (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: Academy of Music: Version Two

(...) Thanks for the comments! I think things like fire escapes really add a level of realism to the building. I think it will look particularly good with an entire block of such buildings with an alley. Though I guess most people won't be able to (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: Academy of Music: Version Two

Re: Academy of Music: Version Two

Wonderful job, David. I'm especially fond of the fire escape. Nice touch! (...) Speaking of bottoms, I thought I saw a minifig mooning me through the window in (URL) now I can see it's just another window in the back wall. (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: Any new towns in the works?

(...) The official word was 4th quarter this year. The center stud tiles last year were available mid December, so I hope to at least see the new stuff then. (...) Sounds good. Please post pic's when it is all set-up. Take care. Best, Jonathan (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: Any new towns in the works?

(...) Jonathan, any ideas about when the new bulk offerings will be made public? I was thinking about making some purchases, but if LD is going to put some new stuff out there, I may just wait. Also, Im still in the planning stages for a 30"x60" (...) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: Any new towns in the works?

(...) Hi Dave, I'm currently working on a typical Brooklyn/Bronx, NYC style residential block. I am awaiting parts and funds for parts to get it to the stage that I will be showing it off. I have a large corner apartment building with a bodega on (...) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.town)

Any new towns in the works?

I, being the town addict I am, wanted to know if there are any lego towns going up out there that are almost finished, or are almost to a point where you'd want to share them with the community? It'll give me something to look forward to! Also, most (...) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: Academy of Music: Version Two

Hey, this is great. The new cornice is really good. How did you attach those white 2x4 plates that have their bottoms facing out? Bruce (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: Academy of Music: Version Two

David & All, < Snipped > After being a big fan of the original Academy of Music before, and seeing the new version both at the last MichLUG meeting, and your updated website, I can say it is looking absolutely terrific. The details, the shops, etc. (...) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: Academy of Music: Version Two

(...) Hi David, I think you really brought this model to life! It looks great. Taking the photographing it outside really adds a lot too. I really like the street level changes/additions as well as the wider windows on the other levels. Congrats! (...) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.town)

  Academy of Music: Version Two

Becoming increasingly disatisfied with my previous effort to model the Academy of Music, a now demolished Louis Sullivan bldg in Kalamazoo Michigan, I decided to tear it down and build new. The new version is larger and more detailed. It includes a (...) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.build.arch, lugnet.org.us.michlug, lugnet.town) !!

Re: New Moc: Dark Red Building

Reminds me of an Edward Hopper painting. (...) (URL) work is very warm and sets a cozy mood. (Like dark red) (...) My feelings as well. I do use red, but I try to warm it up with brown or dark grey trim. Green, Blue & Yellow? only on awnings and (...) (22 years ago, 9-Sep-02, to lugnet.build.arch, lugnet.town)

Re: Help with windows on older style buildings - Please!

Help with windows on older style buildings - Please!

I am trying to build a Victorian house with sash windows and have built some rather nice ones with the clear panels (1x4x3) which are readily available from LEGO. However I need to make some half the width (1x2x3) and have discovered the small train (...) (22 years ago, 9-Sep-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: New Moc: Dark Red Building

(...) Viva indeed! I was going to attempt to do the same thing but it is to cost prohibitive for me right now. Dark red is wonderful! It really creates a nice mood. Works well with tan too! I am really hoping for this color in bulk bricks as well. (...) (22 years ago, 9-Sep-02, to lugnet.build.arch, lugnet.town)
