Re: DETAILS: 8011 Jango Fett & 8012 Super Battle Droid

(...) I went to my local wal-mart too. I even looked on the top shelf for the nearest rows-- no joy. -Ben (23 years ago, 5-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Need Instruction Scans - Trike Buggy (set 1257 or 3000)

Mark Chittenden <mdublade@aol.com> wrote in message news:Gtusyp.735@lugnet.com... (...) Actually I included 2 roboriders, but neither was typical of the line, both looking more like motorcycles than action figure. (...) Perhaps not technic, but (...) (23 years ago, 5-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: DETAILS: 8011 Jango Fett & 8012 Super Battle Droid

(...) No problem! I also should note that since posting, I've put it together. The new "purplish" parts on the 8012 are more blue than purple. In the process of scanning the parts, the blue was discolored. (...) Well, they did have them all crammed (...) (23 years ago, 4-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  RE: New Parts

(...) Yes, it sure is. Since the 1/16" end mill is so incredibly slow, I had to make some design modifications to the 2x4 brick so that it could be entirely milled using a 1/8" mill. The mods include corner radiuses and partial tubes...but hopefully (...) (23 years ago, 4-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: New Parts

Bram, how are you going to do the corners inside the box? Tricky, huh? (23 years ago, 4-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  RE: New Parts

(...) Wow, the specs for the Microproto look much better than the training machines we use in my CNC class here at school. I think they're Enco...not sure. Anyway, their max RPM is 2000, which means that parts take forever to mill, and we can only (...) (23 years ago, 4-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: MOC: crawler crane

(...) I see most of our MOCs as a combination of Model Team and Technic. I try not to classify what belongs where, and if it's questionable, then I'll just post to both MT and Technic groups :-) I think most of us that read Technic also watch the MT (...)   Re: MOC: crawler crane

(...) Like wise it does not need to be motorized or in Technic scale and I think the crane is Technic, perhaps not "very" but still Technic. Same goes for Thomas bridge. (...) Makes me think where to draw the line in Technic. If the models purpose (...) (23 years ago, 4-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: MOC: crawler crane

(...) I'm sure any definition of Technic wouldn't require the model to actually move. In fact being mainly built of beams I'd catagorise T.J's bridge as being very Technic indeed. I've alway avoided trying to come up with a definition for what is (...) (23 years ago, 4-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: MOC: crawler crane

(...) Take a look at Thomas Truss bridge: (URL) tell me how your working crane with Technic parts in it can be less Technic then Thomas (almost) stationary bridge? :) Alhtough I agree it could be _more_ Technic with perhaps a micro motor to drive (...) (23 years ago, 4-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: New Parts

(...) <<snip>> (...) Could that be achieved with the 1 x 4 rack and some hinges? Of course it wont be perfectly round but perhaps the racks could be mounted with a center pivot point so that they connect with the gear never the less? Would probably (...)   Re: DETAILS: 8011 Jango Fett & 8012 Super Battle Droid

Hey man thanks for the joint pics!! Those joints remind me alot of the Alpha Team arm-thingies. Those are going to be fun to tinker with!! As for you getting those sets, you are one lucky guy. I work at Wal-mart and got busted snooping through the (...) (23 years ago, 2-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Orrery gear train

Hi Don, If your gear train does not require too much torque, you could try using two rubber wheels as bevel gears. By having one tire ride on the face of the other wheel, you can get any fractional ratio you want. I've once seen a car in a museum (...) (23 years ago, 4-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: MOC: crawler crane

(...) Hmmmm. I'm not sure - I thought twice about even posting to .technic, as there's no motors or anything, and it's definitely not "technic scale". Does it really qualify as technic?? ROSCO (23 years ago, 4-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: New Parts

(...) Hey, wow, are you really pleased with the Taig? How's the precision? Microproto advertises .0005 repeatability now. Other makers of micro-mills are Roland, Light Machines, Emco-Mayer, Enco, but I am not aware of one as inexpensive and (...) (23 years ago, 3-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: New Parts

Just in case anyone is interested, The little machine is a desktop milling machine supplied by Microproto. They buy the basic mill from Taig and add all the motors, controllers and software. I am buying sheet stock ABS and ABS/PVC from McMaster, (...) (23 years ago, 3-Apr-02, to lugnet.technic)
