Hi Thomas, Thanks for sharing the pics! Strange boom construction does the crane have. Most times the boom is built of technic bricks. Anyway, never seen such a construction on such a big crane! I cut all the tubing today for my 8431 (re-issue of 8460 crane truck) and then realized the pieces labeled 30cm are only 27cm if you cut them by laying them against the picture on the chart instead of measuring. This time I've got an Lego #8466 4x4 Offroader set and used the steering mechanism from that set. But made it shorter between the wheels. It is now about 14 bumps from the inside of each wheel. yes you are right but the forces in thic module are not so heavy to split parts but your "criticism" pushed me to redesign it :) this is new version of my back suspension module and the old one has new name :))) (in english - not polish) the old (...) (22 years ago, 17-Oct-02, to lugnet.technic)

Hi, Just adding my two cents: I recently purchased a mixed pile of Lego which included plenty of these gears (with European cross axle hole), the old white axles and the old chain links. Hi James, The final design will Walk. Though it will not be Bipedal I'm afraid. I have a few ideas brewing around multiple legs. At first I wanted a bipedal necha but the lack of gyro tech concludes the thought. Multiple legs will be the solution. (...) On the motor bases there is a number '71427' and in the bottom left corner there is a number '1' on the older version. The new version has '43362' (...) These are pre-Technic gears. There are actually two types. One with a round hole in the middle which were released in the US/Canada by Samsonite, and a second with an axle hole in the middle that were released in Europe. They are not directly (...) (22 years ago, 15-Oct-02, to lugnet.technic)

The permanent magnet is made by pressing together metal filings under pressure (my deduction, dunno if its true), and sometimes the magnet literally disintegrates, which causes metal filings to gum up the entire works. I too, just got one of these, though it shipped in August from PITSCO. All of the things you mention. I thought I had a bad one. Nice work. I think you forgot to relocate the axles when you changed to the bevel gears. The way it's drawn the 5L axles penetrate the teeth of the 16-tooth gears and the bevel gears intrude on the adjacent axles. (22 years ago, 15-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

While rummaging through a new copy of the Ultimate Builders Set (#3800), I noticed that the 9V mini-motor that came with the set was somewhat different than ones (...) Tony! Thanks, The spine will be mounted on two Technic Turntables. This will be the main bearing. I'm gonna see if a side twist can be addded. We'll see what kind of room I end up with. Jake, Any truth to ther rumor that the LEGO Warehouse looks like the last scene in the Speilberg Movie, "Raiders of the Lost Arc?" It might mean some interesting "finds" in the future. I just finished rebuilding one for a coworker (he gave up due to the online instructions not cutting it), and in the process found various problems with some of the pics (extra (...)
