I need some help finding a cheap, compact storage solution for my personal collection of technic parts. Ideally I'd like to sort it into part type then by color (example: technic bushes; black, lt gray, lt bley etc), and I'd like it to take up a (...) (20 years ago, 18-Feb-05, to lugnet.storage)

If it's a non-functional bulb, I'd think this would be an ideal opportunity to experiment with it and take it apart, to see if you can fit in a new lightbulb. It shouldn't be that difficult to accomplish. Perhaps you can even redesign it so it takes (...) (20 years ago, 5-Feb-05, to lugnet.parts, lugnet.storage, lugnet.general)

(...) Yes, yes, I tried those things too. I have another bulb of the same age from the same set on the other end of my loco, powered by the same battery box, and it's working just fine. (Not sure exactly where this should go) I have an old (say about 7-8 years old) electric light and sound brick 1 x 2 with top lamp that has never given me trouble until now. (...) It's because of shows that I'm more strict with colours. I've been working on the track bed of my railway layout, using lots of packs of grey plates. It wouldn't look right with bley or dark bley ballast. Besides that, the old grey track (...) (20 years ago, 23-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage)

What little I have I place in Ziplocs and label "new lt grey, new dk grey, new brown". Of course, I'll be selling most of it off. I tend to sort by part, then by color anyways, so it only adds at most another 3 Ziplocs to a drawer or larger Ziploc. (...) (20 years ago, 23-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage)

(...) Me too! Light grey is light grey. Occasionally a new color piece really stands out so I simply discard it back into the tub and grab for another. My collection is still mainly old, so that procedure works well. The only real problem is my (...) (20 years ago, 22-Jan-05, to lugnet.storage)

(...) The newer 'Stone' colors tend to have a more obvious blue component, while the older classic shades of gray tend more towards a yellow shift.
