It goes beyond money. Considering these are still considered childrens' toys,
I wouldn't be surprised if there was another factor: the model's weight.
There's probably a weight limit. I've seen all the beautiful purist models out
there too, and they must all weigh in around 50 pounds.
I'm sure TLG would LOVE to put out a $200+ model with 1500 pieces or more,
because it would sell, no matter what. However, kids like to lift their toy
spaceships up and zoom them around the room. How would this be accomplished if
the model was as big as a Volkswagen?
On the other hand, this really could have been achieved in a better way than
the picture suggests. I feel sick.

| That looks either: a) like a fan design, or b) an early mockup that does NOT look like a final TLG product to me. I have faith in them and so should you. Shame on you! :-) However, I have NO illusions about the Falcon myself. I expect it to be out (...) (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)
