That looks either:

a) like a fan design, or
b) an early mockup

that does NOT look like a final TLG product to me.
I have faith in them and so should you. Shame on you! :-)

However, I have NO illusions about the Falcon myself. I expect it to be out
of scale and under-sized. NOT because I think TLG doesn't know what they are
doing, but because TLG knows what the market can handle. I'm sorry, but
there are not enough of us purist/enthusiasts/whatever to support or justify
the price of a full-scale Falcon the way WE would like to see it done. What
parent in their right mind is going to spend more than 100 bucks on it? Not
many, and TLG will want to make this kit accessible to most children who got
all the other SW Lego sets.

Just my 2 cents,

Geoff

Someone (Knight) from a SW site (theouterrim, I think) sent me this:

http://www2.pncl.co.uk/~huw/lego/temp/falcon.jpg

He says its a genuine picture obtained from LEGO of the final model and • NOT
a mock-up.

If so, our worse fears have been realised...

Please let this not be TLG's interpretation of the MF. Please... But the only thing that scares me is the cockpit. I have never seen it before in any Lego sets. Can anyone confirm that? (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) It goes beyond money. Considering these are still considered childrens' toys, I wouldn't be surprised if there was another factor: the model's weight. There's probably a weight limit. I've seen all the beautiful purist models out there too, (...) (25 years ago, 23-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)
