  Picture of Falcon?

Someone (Knight) from a SW site (theouterrim, I think) sent me this: (URL) says its a genuine picture obtained from LEGO of the final model and NOT a mock-up. If so, our worse fears have been realised... Huw (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

(...) It looks ugly enough to be from TLG, but that looks suspiciously like a hand underneath it...not quite the caliber of photography expected from TLG. Hmmm, the cockpit canopy looks new, or maybe from a clone... Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

(...) Wow, is that ugly or what? I hope that's somebody playing a practical joke on us, because, well, yeesh. Adrian -- (URL) (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

(...) Yeah, let's hope this isn't for real, because this sucks. (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

That looks either: a) like a fan design, or b) an early mockup that does NOT look like a final TLG product to me. I have faith in them and so should you. Shame on you! :-) However, I have NO illusions about the Falcon myself. I expect it to be out (...) (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

Please let this not be TLG's interpretation of the MF. Please... But the only thing that scares me is the cockpit. I have never seen it before in any Lego sets. Can anyone confirm that? (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

(...) THERE IS NO GOD! Of all the things they could have done... of all the cool ways to build it that have been online so far... of all the ... GAK! guhk! Having.. trouble... staying... alive... too... ugly!... If that IS the final model, well... I (...) (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

(...) Nor to me. At the very least, I would expect a final version to have a printed piece for the cockpit. (...) I bet there's more parents willing to spend more than $100 on a MF model for their kids (and more kids clamoring for one!) than for a (...) (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

(...) Blech. That's a truly awful design (for a production set). I'd rather have a Falcon-Jr. None of the other SW sets have this poor a design. I *hope* this was just a design/test model, and this approach was discarded. If that's the finished (...) (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

(...) I hope that you're right, but if it is not somehow officially associated with TLG, then where did that canopy come from? Also, I'm puzzled about something . . . take a look at the radar dish. Notice the white coloration that appears between (...) (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

In lugnet.starwars, Steve Bliss writes: Does anyone remember last year when the first picture of the X - Wing came out? Everyone hated it and thought it was ugly, and when the official sets came out, it was totally redesigned. I really hope that (...) (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

(...) I'm suspecting MegaBlocks or another clone, but I have no proof... Yet... (...) This photo is definitely a chop jop. At the very least, all the background except for some schmuck's hand has been masked. Looks like parts of the aft section and (...) (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

(...) Or a Lugnet Picket outside the gates of LegoLand.. "What do we want?" - "A minifig scale Falcon!" "How many pieces?" - "A thousand at least!" "When do we want it?" - "Whenever design contraints and budget requirements allow a suitable (...) (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

---...--- (...) that (...) I think I just realized why this photo is so funky. It's a cyan and black color plate from a print, I don't see any obvious Magenta or Yellow. This means that any details done primarily with Magenta and Yellow won't show (...) (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

(...) I see what you mean. Could all that missing detail really be the lack of Magenta and Yellow? So I'm imagining the picture with two more UFO hulls on back side. Yeah, that does help balance things out. Now I'm hoping that the fact that (...) (25 years ago, 23-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

(...) If this is true and that is the Millenium Falcon I think the desert skiff is starting to look pretty good. I will say this in my best Eric Cartman voice, "you guys, this sucks!" If lego continues with sets like this, "Best Lock, I'm coming (...) (25 years ago, 23-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

(...) It goes beyond money. Considering these are still considered childrens' toys, I wouldn't be surprised if there was another factor: the model's weight. There's probably a weight limit. I've seen all the beautiful purist models out there too, (...) (25 years ago, 23-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

(...) No builder in the world unaffiliated with TLG, with this much ability, would in his/her right mind ever go to so much trouble to piss off his fellow builders. Why would anyone bother designing a mock-up like this, with just the right amount (...) (25 years ago, 23-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

(...) I agree the photo is very messed up. Whoever prepared it did a very quick and dirty masking job. One wonders why. What was in the background that they wanted to mask off? Anyway, the blue mask is done so badly it's creeping in to the model (...) (25 years ago, 23-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Picture of Falcon?

I'm going to be rebellious and say... I think this model could actually be pretty cool. The picture we've seen is definitely messed up, leaving parts of the model (such as the back end) missing. The picture is probably of an early prototype, so it (...) (25 years ago, 24-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)
