I do applaud your effort and the spirit behind the contest.

One of the reasons is that AFOL's are often some of the busiest people. I want
enter a model in Pat's contest, and I told him I might, but I have to polish
up my model first, and then borrow a good camera. While that is going on, I
have to have a new page or two up by baylug's next meeting, and all that stuff
is usually relegated to the afternoon during my daughter's nap. I got a lot
going on, so I wouldn't take it personally if folks seem like they're dragging
their feet. Summer is also a very mixed up time as people have so many varied
plans.

Well it seems you're certainly giving it good thought. I don't have a problem
with a $5.00 entry fee: I just don't have a model ready. The minifig idea is
okay, but I don't think you'll have to do it to encourage entries, at least I
don't see how it'll necessarily make the contest better.
Here's something that might help: people get more Lego bricks at Christmas, so
wait until late January or February to do a contest after folks have a bit
more time to build stuff.

| I am planning on starting this contest later in the year. But, if it goes as I hope, I will hold contests on all sorts of subjects, one after the other, with a lead up time to let people know what contests are coming, and what the deadlines are. (...)
