Re: about the episode 2 sets, my thoughts as to what happened

The reason those sets were out on the floor was the same reason Wal-Mart is so successful. See, Wal-Mart can have lower prices on things because they have no inventory in the back. They have 99.9% of their products on the floor, so they can dedicate (...) (22 years ago, 12-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Jawa Sandcrawler '02

(...) I dunno-- I'm almost tempted to say that Star Trek could've hurt the sci-fi market for SW had it been first. First off, effects. One of the HUGE things SW did was the great effects. Chances are ST would've had the same cheezy effects that (...) (22 years ago, 11-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Jawa Sandcrawler '02

(...) I doubt this would have been true mostly because ST the Motion Picture was just a little to slow. It was closer to 2001 ASO then it was SW. SW had blasters firing and a much faster script. Plus ST tries to base in self in some sort of "future (...) (22 years ago, 11-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: In line for Episode 2 Already? Sheesh!

Several TRU's are gonna have the Midnight Madness when Episode II toys come out. Check out www.theforce.net and look under Collecting. They have a list of all participating TRU locations. BTW. I'm more excited about the new Lego's on April 23rd than (...) (22 years ago, 11-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Jawa Sandcrawler '02

(...) I believe that most sci-fi after Star Wars used Lucases own special effects production company, ILM, to do the effects in their movies. Before this, most studios did cheesy effects 'in house' (2001 being a noteable exception, those were pretty (...) (22 years ago, 11-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Jawa Sandcrawler '02

(...) I think this is exactly right, and I would suggest that the other late-70's might not have been possible or successful without many of the techniques established during Star Wars, not to mention the market-credibility of science fiction (...) (22 years ago, 11-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Jawa Sandcrawler '02

(...) Another thing that made a big difference (IMO) is that before Star Wars, there was a fairly long drought of 'big' science fiction movies. Sure, there were some movies around, but not many. So I think people were much more receptive to Star (...) (22 years ago, 11-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

In line for Episode 2 Already? Sheesh!

To All, I am about excited as the next person to seeing this film, but I am not standing in line for over a month to wait. How would I pay all of my LEGO bills? (URL) TRU going to have that midnight opening again when Episode 1 toys come out? Scott (...) (22 years ago, 11-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

Comparison Pics of TIE Interceptors (UCS & Vintage)

I've just added comparison pics of two TIE Interceptors (UCS & Vintage) in our brickshelf gallery. I was asked about this by a friend of mine and I thought that maybe some of you might also be interested in it. (URL) & Sons member #1500 Homepage (...) (22 years ago, 11-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Jawa Sandcrawler '02

(...) I've never watched it! (and I'm twelve) I've read both the DK Star Wars reference books, and know a bit about the craft, but never watched the movie! Anyway, great sandcrawler. Great detail, right down to the auxillary hatch on the main door. (...) (23 years ago, 10-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Republic Gunship in Utah

Don't know if anyone in here is in this area, but the Orem, Utah Wal-Mart has one Republic Gunship and one UCS Yoda left as of last night. I picked up the gunship a week ago there, and thought it was the only one--this other one must have been (...)   Re: Jango Arrives In Canada

Spotted the 8012 Super Batter Droid in a northern Toronto TRU. The price scanner even scanned it!!! $50 CDN, which I guess is pretty close to the 35 USD price. No other Episode II sets though. I guess Walmart aren't the only ones that did an (...) (23 years ago, 10-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.loc.ca)

  Re: Jawa Sandcrawler '02

(...) I'm working on it :) I was born in '78 and played more with LEGO then watched TV when it was on there. I think the magic is lost today or if you're an adult. Still it's really great movies but I don't think it'll become a part of my life in (...) (23 years ago, 10-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Comic scans?

(...) Hey Adrick. I'm sorry I don't know where to point you, but if they arn't on Brickshelf, good hunting. I have a hunch that the comics that appear in the intructions cannot be copied. Then again, they arn't protecting the design of the model, (...) (23 years ago, 4-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Jawa Sandcrawler '02

(...) thanks :) I was disappointed that they didn't double the treads on each 'foot', its a pretty basic detail to miss... (...) thanks again! Its nice to go out with a bang :D cheers! Joel K (23 years ago, 10-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Jawa Sandcrawler '02

(...) thanks! (...) after I got my Yoda and saw the tone of the dark orange bricks, the first thing I thought was 'rust' that is a great new color! I seriously thought of rebuilding the Sandcrawler then and there, but I just didn't have a good (...) (23 years ago, 10-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: New Destroyer Droid

(...) Thanks Jeff. I tried my version with just three legs, but it seemed to be too top heavy then. So as I was going through the design process I came up with the 6 legged approach. I am still working on different versions, but none have satisfied (...) (23 years ago, 10-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: New Destroyer Droid

(...) Hey Lenny, Sorry about taking so long to respond, but I added more pictures with Darth Maul standing between the two droids to brickshelf. Mine is definitely bigger then either the Mark 1 or Maul. (URL) Jim F. (23 years ago, 10-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)
