Ah, would that such pieces were available in sand-purple...
I’m guessing that your Mac at school isn’t calibrated, as I’m seeing the same
sand-purple and gray on my Mac that others are seeing. This could be a trick of
the eye, but I seem to be seeing a slight purple tinge even in the gray-er
shots. Camera white balance off, maybe? What settings are you changing? Levels
or curves? I wonder if you shifted some shots more than others based on how much
they were exposed.
On the other hand, the alien colour/low contrast images do suit the alien nature
of the ship. Maybe that’s how it looks through a certain type of visor...
I like what you’ve done with the ship, and the
in-progress shots are a welcome insight
into your process. It appears you have no shortage of ideas. The pod cockpit is
a nice touch. Many pods appear as if they are an escape pod off a larger ship,
so this gives a sense of the ship with the pod attached. Actually, the slightly
truncated quality of the rear of this ship makes it look as if it too is a part
of an even larger ship.
Between you and Keith, I think the Jade
Empire has found its own aesthetic beyond Eastern Block borrowings. Keep the
tentacles, for sure, and keep building.
