  Wide Moonbase Corridors?

Before I pass out, what do you think? Fuzzy has once again brought up one of the most requested Moonbase standard mods. If we added a wide corridor variant, how wide would it be? 16? Think about it. I'm thinking at this point it would do no harm at (...) (21 years ago, 1-Sep-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Wide Moonbase Corridors?

(...) The variant I seem to recall seeing that someone proposed was determined not by the interior width but rather by the width of two corridor connector points, that is, it was such that two narrows that were exactly adjacent would have their (...) (21 years ago, 1-Sep-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Wide Moonbase Corridors?

(...) I agree. I think the 6 wide (4 wide interior) is good enough. Yeah, two minifigs can't walk abreast down the hallway, but so what? To me, this all falls into the camp of "a real minifig's head is wider than his chest" - we aren't detailing (...) (21 years ago, 1-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Wide Moonbase Corridors?

(...) I think the real issue is moving equipment larger than minifigs between modules. Cargo pallets, spacey forklifts, etc. -Tim (21 years ago, 1-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Wide Moonbase Corridors?

Let's see...16 wide would in actuality be 14 wide due to the connector at the edge of the corridor. This wouldn't be much of a problem at all. The problem lies with the availability of 6 x 16 light grey plates. Long corridors would become (...) (21 years ago, 1-Sep-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Wide Moonbase Corridors? (12?)

Oh man, dude, I didn't mean THAT much wider. I'm assuming the "16" you mentioned is total outer corridor width with a 12 stud span inside. I'm afraid that if corridors went to 16 wide, they would take up too much of the wall space. Someone who had (...) (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Wide Moonbase Corridors?

(...) I hafta say I'm against widening the corridors. I really don't see us physically walking our minifigs through the corridors from one module to another. If we did we'd need removable roofs on the corridors and such. What I'm saying is, the (...) (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Even though I have not bult a module yet (I do have one in progress) I thought I'd throw down some smack. When I first heard about the moonbase project and examined the bulding regulations, I was (and still am) impressed by the simplicity and (...) (21 years ago, 2-Sep-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Wide Moonbase Corridors?

I kicked this idea around a while back. What I came up with was that a wider corridor had to be set back one space on the baseplate in order to accomodate a 1 brick thick adapter back the standard width. Two 8 wide corridors would just need a two (...) (21 years ago, 4-Sep-03, to lugnet.space)
