I usually don't get involved in discussions of this nature, but I have spare
time today.
I find that when I post a new MOC, I get about 1 reply for about every
100-200 people that view the post. This is ascertained by checking hit
counters on BrickShelf or on my web page.
Because I have little time, I typically don't post very much on LUGNET any
more. I want to spend what little time I have building LEGO. Perhaps this
applies to other folks as well?
Anyhow, this 1:100 (or worse) ratio has been steady for many years now, so I
don't attribute it to any of the "death of LUGNET" trends that people seem
to be claiming recently. I think that people don't have the time or don't
want to risk other people questioning their posts, so they just look.
The best thing to do is just to be happy with whatever response (or lack of
response) you get and check the hit counters to see that people really are
interested.
