  Re: sonar

Just wondering... in reference to the modification on the Polaroid 6500 sonar ranging board, there's been two different assertions. Should the 0.1uF cap be of a polarized (e.g. electrolytic, tant, etc.) or non-polarized variety (as stated below)?... (...) (25 years ago, 17-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: windows nt and handyboard

Thanks for all of you that sent me e-mail regards your experience with hb and windows nt. They are a pretty useful information and i am considering them. lourdes (25 years ago, 17-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  programming for step motor questions...

Hi, I would like to use step motors in my robot and have had success using the MC3479 stepper motor IC, it is simple to use, just needs a direction bit and a pulse, but I really don't know how to program my hb to do this. I mean I can figure out how (...) (25 years ago, 17-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Getting the L297 into wave drive mode

Hi I'm using the L297/L298 chip configuration to run 4-phase unipolar stepper motors. Currently I'm driving them in half-step mode but I'm not getting enough torque.. :( Has anyone successfully gotten the L297 chip into wave drive mode? I believe I (...)   Re: source for assembled expansion bds?

I got my assembled & tested expansion board via air mail from Patrick Hui of the Robot Store, HK ((URL) fairly quickly, and at an excellent price. Im not affiliated with his company in any way, but I've always gotten prompt, courteous service from (...) (25 years ago, 17-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Speed.asm problem...

Hello, I am currently using speed.icb/shaft.c (IC v3.2 library files) to count clicks on optical encoders for my two drive wheels using the Pulse accumulator and the IC3 interrupt.   Re: Non-polaroid Sonar

Hi Everyone! If anyone gets the interface to work, I'd love to post it on my site along with the appropriate references and credits. It would be neat if the sensor works with the HB! Good luck!   HB sensors....HELP??

Hi Finaaly got my exp board working and now yet another problem. When checking sensors every 4 secs or so I always get 255.   Re: Non-polaroid Sonar

(...) No, that's a very good question. It had me confused, too. The second argument to bit_set and bit_clear is not actually the index of a bit at all; it's a bit mask. For example, when you do bit_set( 0x1021, 3 ), the 3 becomes 0000 0011 in (...) (25 years ago, 16-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Overcharge Battery

(...) Actually, if you had stored them fully discharged then they would likely be as good as they day you bought them. That is the best way to store NiCds.   Re: Non-polaroid Sonar

Thanks for your help :-D Just so I'm clear, ref pink book page 10-17. Does the "bit_set( 0x1021, 1 );" refer to bit 0 -EDG3B, and bit_clear( 0x1021, 2 ); " refer to bit 1 -EDG3A. This is what was throwing me, I always thought bits started at zero (...) (25 years ago, 16-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Overcharge Battery

Im going to jump in here on this one and give an opinion. C/10 for a NiCd is a little much for a trickle charge. C/10 on NiCd's is usually considered more of a trimming type of charge following a higher charge rate of C or C/2 to put the bulk of the (...)
