  Should I?

Hi all, I am a young Dutch engineer assigned to build a prototype of a six-legged robot. I am considering to use the handy-board as the controller. There are however a few questions I have.   15' max measurement

Yup, it looks like 15' is about as far as I can measure. In fact, if the distance is _too_ great, I start getting weird measurements, on the order of 8 or 9 feet. Strange. I turned the gain up a bit, which keeps those erratic measurements from (...) (28 years ago, 14-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Continuation of the quest to understand the SPI port

  Re: ni-cads in parallel

Don't do this. First off, you won't get more current, nicads already can deliver gobs of current, enough to be dangerous. You want more amp-hours, not more instantaneous amperage. Secondly you will have problems with cells charging each other. I (...) (28 years ago, 6-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: ni-cads in parallel

(...) This is generally not a problem. If you get a 7.2v strip of C-cells from a hobby store (this is a 5 cell battery) they can deliver about 150 amps for a short while.   using ni-cads in parallel

  Re: voltage regulator current rating

(...) The rated total is 1 amp. The HB itself draws 100 to 200 mA? I'm not sure, I haven't measured it exactly.
