(...) I'm assuming you mean the motor LED's and that they stay on and nothing shows up on the LCD. Sounds like you didn't disconnect the battery and accidently shorted it. Found this about Bali after doing a web search: (URL) contains an abstract about a paper presented at an SPIE related conference. Didn't someone (William Lim?) write a paper about BALI, a small version of JAVA, that could be used for small mobile robots? (...) What about building an IJ (Interactive Java). You loose all the cool stuff, but then again, there isn't much for graphics on the handy board. My design team and I just recieved our Handy-Board. We plan on building an autonomous mobile robot that will run a search program and (hopefully) locate a 4" x 4" wooden(passive) block. But last time I looked, a Java Virtual Machine took 8 MB of memory, which won't exactly fit into the HC11 address space :-) Really, if you want a (...) It won't fit by a wide margin. I was part of the original Java team and when it was called 'Oak' it was designed to be as compact as possible with a kernel footprint at around 100K. I haven't tried this on a handy board, I am using a miniboard, but I think the process is similar: not having a lot of time to figure out how to use dc motors with my miniboard (my project deadline was coming up fast) I decided to use step motors (...) I need a source for a good 12V battery. I'm thinking gel cell to keep the weight and size to a minimum. I found a 12V lead acid at Radio Shack, which is a good size but it's too heavy. (...) Scott The 18200's are a pretty staight forward upgrade. I'm currently using two of them to run a couple power widow motors from a 12V gel cell. They work great. Any laser diode will work for sensing objects. The trick is that they are _so_ bright that you can't just look for the reflection (unless your are sensing objects at a few hundred feet) There was a Circuit Cellar contest entry which used a laser (...)
