In the 1999 catalogue from Commotion (UK), there's a Lego power pack,
which is pictured near to the control lab interface and the control
centre. They don't specifically say that either of these devices need it
(at least, I don't think so), nor do they mention that the RCX can use it,
nor do they say what its for, apart from that it's 9V DC.
However, weren't there some people in this group who had problems with
external power supplies and were told by TLG "you should use the official
Lego power pack"?! ie confirming that there is such a thing, contrary to
the conclusion of the middle paragraph above.
What do the pictures of the RCX on the RIS 1.5 box show - AC inlet or not?
Are they consistent?
Maybe a question to Mindstorms tech support would tell us why they got
rid of it, and why they failed to mention it in the RIS 1.5 publicity!

| The Scout (from the Robotics Discovery System) doesn't have a power connector either. It is quite possible that the decision to remove the power connector from Mindstorms products was made during the development of the Scout. There was only a single (...)
