Besides the RCX, I've two other sets that can be run off an external ac adapter
- #8485 Technic Control Center and DACTA #9751 Control Lab Interface. Both of
them come with an external adapter. The Technic Control Center can also be run
off batteries but the Control Lab Interface runs only off the ac adapter. I'm not
sure whether these sets are *internationalised* but the external power connectors
are there.
If it's a problem of people using the wrong adapters, then the RCX should perhaps
be packaged together with the approved ac adapter. I've been using the adapters
provided without any problems whatsoever.
Whatever, the reason for the disappearance of the RCX power connector it is a
great step backwards. There are too many occasions when the internal batteries
are unable to supply power long enough. And it is a pain to take apart and fix
back the model just to replace the batteries.
I guess I just have to stock up on a couple more of the RCX 1.0s before they
become collectors' item.
