I would like to attract your attention to a rather old Italian site (1999).
http://users.libero.it/riccardo.rocca/roboat.htm. Riccardo built a marveleous
non-LEGO robot-boat equipped with electronic compass and GPS and travelling over
the "Idroscalo Lake" near Milano. At that time a pioneer work!

Now you have "Serenity", NXT... all "pure LEGO"; add a third party compass and a
GPS, and you can travel a much bigger lake? But, probably you will need a lot of
serenity to risk your NXT :)

(...) Thank you very much! (...) Actually, there still seem to be relatively few robotic water-craft around, to my surprise. That is an excellent project, and I'd not seen it. I'm also really glad I did not have to go the same route as he did (...) (17 years ago, 13-Sep-07, to lugnet.robotics)
