  Re: Differentials

Only two real different types. The old ones (light grey) have one gear (I thought 24t??). There are two versions of these old ones. From about 1993 the teeth became some longer. The new ones (dark grey) have two gears (16t+24t) ----- Original (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Interfacing Sharp's GP2D02 Distance Sensor to the RCX

(...) Makes no sense for use with GP2D02 (uses serial protocol). Using the more general purpose analog interface (the one with the opamp) should work well with GP2D12 I think (I'm also no electrical engineer). You can adjust the output then (Sharp (...)   Where can I get an extra light sensor?

I just called S@H and they said that the light sensor <set:9758> has been discontinued. This really surprises me, as I think this is the most useful sensor they have. Now I've ordered one from Dacta who still had them in stock (how long, I wonder?), (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  spirit.ocx

Does anyone know how I can legally get my hands on a copy of Spirit.ocx without buying the RIS. The Lego website FAQ states that it was provided with the pre-alpha SDK, leading me to believe it was freely distributed (with limited caveats). However, (...)   Re: The need for chat server - a dissenting opinion

Hi Matthias, This is an excellent point you make. I agree that the nature of IRC doesn't lend itself to directly contributing to the knowledge base of Lugnet. However I also feel that many problem-brainstormin...g-solution cycles, and the knowledge (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Need for chat server?

Ya, that's precisely why I'm offering to maintain an IRC server. I think it would be great to be able to hop onto a chat server and brainstorm a new robotics idea, or get some help with troubleshooting something in real time. I'll wait until I see a (...)   Re: Microsoft and LEGO Company Announce a Shared Dream

In trying to read substance from the press release on the Lego site, all I found was this: Microsoft will advertise and sell Legos. TLG will write software that is compliant with Microsoft protocols. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but then again, (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

The need for chat server - a dissenting opinion

Sorry, but I for one have to vote against the idea. I appreciate that, given IRC's relative immediacy, there are some advantages to being able to get an answer "right now". This assumes, of course, that there is someone on-line with the answer (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Yes. The website used to work with Netscape, but now does not even begin to load before giving a fatal error. It works perfectly with IE.   Getting lejos running -- anyone advise?

I'm trying to get lejos running on my RCX, and having difficulty. I've downloaded lejos 1.0.0 beta 3 from <URL:(URL), and followed the instructions from the README exactly, but I get no joy. I can do lejosfirmdl, and this seems to complete OK, (...) (25 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)
