If you are parallel and very close to an obstacle, like a curb or a wall,
you can't get away from it with all-wheel steering. As soon as you turn the
wheel to get the front away from the wall, the back of the vehicle will
smash into it. This can get you in trouble if you park on an empty street,
but later other cars park in front and behind you.
If I recall correctly, the 4-wheel steering on the original Super Car (the
black one) did not turn all wheels evenly. The back wheels turned only about
half as much as the front wheels.

I suppose it is to do with the line perpendicular to the vehicle coinciding with the centre point of the turning circle; with all wheel equal steering, it will intersect the middle (...) (24 years ago, 14-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics)
