actually i wasn't talking about a synchro- i am going to tackle that problem
when i get some more turntables
i was talking about (bad ascii art to follow)

'|||' is the body of the platform

|---|
  |||
|---|
this is straight '|'s are the wheels

\---\
   |||
/---/
this is turning left '/' & '\'s are the wheels

/---/
  |||
\---\

this is turning right '/' & '\'s are the wheels
i have the basic setup with a differential in each drive with sort of a rack
steering but i'm not using a rack-more of a linkage between the two wheels
and a single arm from a horizontally mounted gear from the center point for
turning.  my problem is that i can't get the drive to fit into the platform
without any loss of drive.  i'm using the large wheels from the super street
sensation and they need to be geared down to get any sort of torque.

the biggest problem is that the opposite axels must be driven in different
directions respective to each other. i usually use the bevel gears for this
but i'm not having success with it.

also for a reference all monster truck chassis' use this kind of steering.
i have one platform that i built with six wheels and the front and back
pairs turn like this but do not drive. only the center wheels drive but i
found that the platform would not go over any obstacle over .25 inches so i
started to work on the four wheel-drive four wheel steering platform.

i wish i could give you a link but i'm just too busy at work right now...

regards,
m.

well, it's been a while and my boss said that i could screw off for the • day
since it's my b-day so here goes...

coming from the lurks...

firstly thanks to all of you that have been regularly posting i feel • like
you are all friends in a different way, i mean we have a secret code and
language, anyone else think taht we should have a secret handshake?

now on to the reason for this posting:

has any thought of using the different positions available with vision
command that divide the zones for mechanical sensors?  this could open a
range of inputs...  ummm like for example with the vision command • pointing
straight down a four sided touch sensor could be arranged such that each
bumper is placed so that it would move a shaft into the view of the • vision
command and then send a signal to the rcx?

you could even use it to do multi-pass scanning to do full color copies, • low
resolution of course but it would seem to me to be a logical
implementation...

when i get the time i'll put up a site with those ideas...

and if anyone can help i'm working on a four-wheel drive platform where • the
front and back wheels turn in opposite directions for a smaller turning
radius, but i can't think of the name of that steering platform.

well that's all i can think of right now.

mike
