I really wanted the steerable shrimp to work out, it is so aesthetically pleasing as a design that it just seemed to the be Right Thing(tm). Lego is usually pretty nice about replacing broken lego, far nicer than they are required to be. I dont know what theyll do about a broken RCX though. You should call consumer affairs (i dont know the number) and ask them. (...) (23 years ago, 16-Feb-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Hi! I'm planning to build an ir tower with the schematics from Stef Mientki. I believe it should work with my scout brick. Does anybody know where I can download the scout SDK or the scout Tools ? I need to connect a non-Lego motor to the RCX, and use an external power supply such as a 9V battery to drive the motor. Any suggestions as to how I should do this? (23 years ago, 16-Feb-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Hi John, I've played a bit with 3.3.3.8 release, and I didn't experience slowdown (it needs confirmation, but you seem to have fixed that!) The new installer went fine on my machine. Hi, AFAIK only the following changes need to be made to a COMM-driver to work with USB (Windows only): First of all the Lego-USB-Driver has to be installed (happens automatically when you install the MindStorms/RIS-software). I am hesitant to announce that I've uploaded a new version of BricxCC to my website. This release comes in a full-featured install executable. As a result the download is a bit larger (i.e., 1.6MB). One shot shows a good view of the IR control box with what looks like 5 buttons (L, R, Fwd, Back,. plus a trigger?) and a speed control. Looks like they might be (...) After looking up some component data sheets, I've found myself wondering a few things: 1) The H8/3292 pin 42 connects to the D43256B pin 23. (...) Actually, it is regulated (speaking as one who has had to replace the fuse that comes before the regulator). Think about it. It has to be. The batteries provide 9V, the MCU requires 5V. Stef (...) The IR LEDs are pulsed on and off at 30kHz - that's on top of the 2400bps serial signal. I had to remove that 30kHz signal. That's what the 100nF (on the base of the transistor) is for. the better way to know how the IR work is the legOS kernel source. I read it and see that legOS use IRQ for transmiting and receiving message. Hello everyone! Does anyonk know what the RCX does with IR data it sees from the IR module when it is busy transmitting? Remember, while the Lego motors can take a fairly substantial voltage without being destroyed, the same is not true of the motor controller within the RCX. There is a voltage limit for (...)
