Re: Be vewwwy, vewwy quiet...I'm hunting Richard's CVE

(...) Thanks! I'd love to think I'm a genius, but the fact is that I'm just experienced (and I have a lot of dark grey, and a lot of free time in large blocks). best LFB (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.pirates)

Re: Be vewwwy, vewwy quiet...I'm hunting Richard's CVE

(...) Thanks for the compliments--it makes me want to continue working my kiester off each year! I told Shiri that this better be one heck of a job you got to make it worth missing Brickfest for. ;) But yes, we missed you too--your absence was very (...)   Re: Be vewwwy, vewwy quiet...I'm hunting Richard's CVE

(...) Thanks! I just took a measurement, and it's 499 studs including the chrysanthemum on the bow. The scale of the ship is about 1/60, so if a minifig is 1/35, it's definitely compressed. (...) Oooh, Leyte Gulf. (The reason for the joke is that (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.pirates)

Re: Be vewwwy, vewwy quiet...I'm hunting Richard's CVE

(...) It's in the works...I'm also going to dig up all of my old ships, which look comically bad (one of them is blue, heh) in comparison to the last two. It makes for an interesting evolutionary diagram of ship design. best LFB (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.pirates)

Re: Be vewwwy, vewwy quiet...I'm hunting Richard's CVE

(...) Excellent powers of deduction, Bruce! :D It is indeed a heavy cruiser, of the post-Treaty sort (built 1927-1932). It's meant to represent the heavy cruiser Takao (but could also pass for the Atago), normal displacement ~13,000 tons, length at (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.pirates)

Re: Be vewwwy, vewwy quiet...I'm hunting Richard's CVE

I forgot to ask for some information on the ship....what is it? The bow has abandoned the reverse sloping bow of WWI era ships, but it still has a has a rear-facing forward turret, which seemed to dissappear on ship design by the start of WWII. So, (...) When are we going to get the iron warship equivalent of Bob Carney's Castle site outta you see we can peruse all your different ships at one spot? Bruce (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.pirates)

Re: Be vewwwy, vewwy quiet...I'm hunting Richard's CVE

(...) Good Lord. That's one magnificent ship, LFB! She does a *lot* of credit to her namesake, I think, and the whole Japanese shipbuilding industry. Excellently done with the bow! And the secondary armament... *wow*. How many studs is she? She (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.pirates)

Re: Be vewwwy, vewwy quiet...I'm hunting Richard's CVE

Lindsay, you were right. Not castle or space. Boats. :-) Amazing job - this is truly one of the greatest creations I've ever seen. Only you could surpass that monster you had there last year. Too bad I didn't get to see this one in person. -Chris (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.pirates)

Be vewwwy, vewwy quiet...I'm hunting Richard's CVE

Seeing as how Kenneth Tam was mentioning how crowded the South Pacific is getting, now's probably the time to point out that it looks like the population's now one 400-pound Nihon Kaigun (and only barely piratical) gorilla larger: (URL) I'd be kind (...)   Re: New ships out of Port Brique

Once again, great stuff! You're assembling quite a formidable squadron -- I'm glad it's safely around the Horn and away from me! Sheesh, with all these ports cropping up, I'm starting to get ideas for my own... hmm... well, we'll see. I can't wait (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.pirates)

(...) Thanks! I'm looking forward to the frigate, my first big three master. And a *big* broadside. (...) Not as many as I'd like ;-) The French Fleet is constructed from the salvaged hulls of 2 Flybos (extended with inverse slopes), an Armada (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.pirates)

Re: New ships out of Port Brique

Hey Richie! Amazing port, and wonderful ships. I'm delighted to see someone put up a little French flag around those terrible Port Blockers! I haven't had a chance to post to the original thread, so I'll go for this one. ;) The city's wharf is (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.pirates)

New ships out of Port Brique

Ahoy, Last weekend saw some serious ship building going on at Port Brique. The brigs Flybo's Revenge and Red Beard Runner where scuttled, the sloop Cosette rerigged, and two new ships were launched: - the sloop Azelma (...) (22 years ago, 22-Jul-02, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Thanks to the Brickfesters

(...) Yup -- Thanks WAMALUG! (...) Yeah. It was obvious that Frank was torn between all the options available and I think he might have been wishing that his commitment to the game had been less firm. But he stuck around, ran a great game, and I'm (...) (22 years ago, 22-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.pirates)
