  Re: Peeron inventories

(...) Your English is fine, probably better than mine. Your comment about the buffers is correct. However I had a mint in sealed box and it did not have the buffers in it. I opened it about a year ago and never put it together. I am finding that (...) (17 years ago, 19-Mar-07, to lugnet.inv, lugnet.people.newbie)

  Re: Peeron inventories

(...) Hello, I was the person to verify the 7720 set (and this is my first post on Lugnet). Please, excuse me to not check the whole inventory properly. I have only corrected the most obvious mistakes like the number of wheels. I have overlooked the (...) (17 years ago, 19-Mar-07, to lugnet.inv, lugnet.people.newbie)

  Re: Missing seams

(...) mklist won't change any files. You do not need to manually edit the header. The mere fact that 3429 is found in the PARTS folder is enough to recognize it as a part. Just to be sure: you run L3P on Space_fork_lift.ldr and not on (...) (18 years ago, 25-Sep-06, to lugnet.people.newbie, lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Missing seams

(...) Actually I've already moved the part to the PARTS folder and re run mklist.exe (I think that's what the name is) to regenerate the parts list. Needlesss to say, this didn't resolve the problem. Do I need to manually remove the "Unofficial (...) (18 years ago, 25-Sep-06, to lugnet.people.newbie, lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Missing seams

(...) The problem is that L3P fails to recognize the two unofficial parts as parts. Try moving 3429.DAT and 3430.DAT to the PARTS folder. See also (URL) have already a long time ago updated L3P to scan a part's header for "Unofficial Part" but I'm (...) (18 years ago, 24-Sep-06, to lugnet.people.newbie, lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Missing seams

(...) Maybe Lars has fixed this in L3P 1.4 (wink, wink, nudge, nudge Lars ;-) ) -Orion (18 years ago, 24-Sep-06, to lugnet.people.newbie, lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: Missing seams

Just an update. I never really resolved the problem. But for now I am working around the problem by manually entering the .5 spacing that L3P would usually add between parts in POV-Ray. Here's the corrected file. (URL) Thanks to everyone for your (...) (18 years ago, 24-Sep-06, to lugnet.people.newbie, lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: Missing seams

(...) Thanks for your help. You've deffinitely helped me understand some of what creates that authentic lego look in the POV-Ray picture. :) But I tried everything and I just can't get L3P or POV-Ray to shrink/separate the unofficial parts in the (...)   Re: Missing seams

(...) It looks like you're using LGEO parts in your picture. These have (slightly) rounded edges on all the bricks that visually create seams. The forklift part isn't modeled in LGEO, so L3P falls back to the LDraw geometry for that part, which (...) (18 years ago, 24-Sep-06, to lugnet.people.newbie, lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: Missing seams

(...) Thanks for the quick response. But I'm still confused about something. If POV-Ray doesn't draw lines/seams, then what causes the other parts to display seams in the POV-Ray picture? (Such as the supporting bricks for the forklift rails) Thanks (...) (18 years ago, 24-Sep-06, to lugnet.people.newbie, lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: Missing seams

(...) Hi David, The problem is a shortcoming in L3P. The way L3P adds seam "lines" is to shrink the pieces by a small amount. How L3P determines what to shrink (since it wouldn't be appropriate to shrink any subpart assemblies) may introduce the (...) (18 years ago, 23-Sep-06, to lugnet.people.newbie, lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: Missing seams

(...) Hi David, The short answer is that there are no seams, only lines. Since a line is a one-dimensional object it is invisible in POVray. The long answer is that POVray won't show edge lines because they are not really useful and don't fit with (...) (18 years ago, 23-Sep-06, to lugnet.people.newbie, lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Missing seams

Any idea why the some pieces don't show seams in POV-Ray but they do in MLCad? Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere. I did search for it, but I didn't find anything. (Newbie to all this.) For example, this is the model as seen in MLCAD. (...) (18 years ago, 23-Sep-06, to lugnet.people.newbie, lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Avoiding confirmation via e-mail

Hi all, Is it possible to avoid e-mail confirmation when I send a message via NNTP? Often I use slrn via ssh, and read the e-mails (or open an internet page) to confirm my posts is so annoying. Thanks (and excuse me for my bad English) (18 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.people.newbie)

  Another one who's new here
