  Re: March 26th Smart Meeting

Here are a couple of 'work in progress' pictures of the Easter Egg Hunt arena: (URL) black top has curled a bit, but we'll tape it down before using it. The walls will be fastened together properly, and there will be white tape around each of the (...) (19 years ago, 22-Mar-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: March 26th Smart Meeting

(...) The holes will have white tape around them (I think you said in a previous posting), so if there are robots that may fall into the holes, they could detect the edge of the circle before falling in (they'll need to in order to deposit the egg, (...)   Re: March 26th Smart Meeting

(...) All good questions. I was just starting to build the arena today (making larger at 8'x6'), though I haven't cut the holes yet. My plan was to make them complete circles, about 3" in diameter, with somewhere around 1" between the edges of the (...) (19 years ago, 19-Mar-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: March 26th Smart Meeting

I think a larger arena makes sense, so that it doesn't get too crowded. What size will the holes in the corners of the table be? How far away from the walls will the center of each hole be? (I'm trying to figure out if my wall detection will prevent (...) (19 years ago, 19-Mar-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: March 26th Smart Meeting

With our next SMART meeting a bit more than a week away, I wanted to tell everyone that the Easter Egg Hunt arena will be available from probably 11am for people to try it out, and make changes to their robots or programs as required. Don't forget (...) (19 years ago, 17-Mar-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  March 26th Smart Meeting

The next SMART meeting is just over two weeks away, on March 26th. We'll be meeting at Crossroads Shopping Center this month, but the time will be as usual, from 2pm to 5pm. The mini-challenge is a robotic Easter Egg Hunt. Build a robot that will (...) (19 years ago, 10-Mar-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: Easter Egg Hunt

(...) Sure, anyone who'd like to bring an Easter Egg hunting robot is welcome. The more, the better! Unlike the past, this event isn't in addition to, but rather IS our normal meeting. As such it will run from 2pm to 5pm. We'd like people to stay (...) (19 years ago, 18-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: Easter Egg Hunt

Is the arena open to anyone that brings an egg-gathering robot? My son and I haven't been to any of the meetings (but we have participated in the robot challenge last year and have been to many of your other public events) and we may put together a (...)   Re: Easter Egg Hunt

As promised, here are the specs on the Easter eggs that we'll be using for our Easter Egg Hunt robots. We'll be buying a bunch of Hershey's Solid Milk Chocolate Eggs. The eggs are about 1 1/8 inch long, and just a bit over 3/4 inch wide, or in (...) (19 years ago, 16-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Easter Egg Hunt

As we mentioned at the meeting (and in the last message) our next meeting will be at Crossroads Shopping Center on March 26. This is the Saturday before Easter Sunday. So our mini-challenge will be to build a robot that will hunt for chocolate (...) (19 years ago, 2-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  January 2005 Meeting Notes

Saturday's SMART meeting went really well! For our fourth anniversary we had slightly less people than normal, but almost everyone brought a mini-challenge or other robot. The mini-challenge was to build a robot that could detect a 60-watt (...) (19 years ago, 2-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Re: January 29th 2005 SMART Meeting

A kinda-late reminder about tomorrow's SMART meeting: 2pm at Digipen. Whoever is interested, we'll go to Red Robin afterwards. See you there! -- David Schilling (19 years ago, 29-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Re: January 29th 2005 SMART Meeting

Here's the two-week reminder before the SMART meeting which will be at 2pm at Digipen on January 29th. Read the previous post for details on the mini-challenge. I'm thinking of just enclosing the light-bulb in a small plexiglass box instead of using (...) (19 years ago, 17-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  January 29th 2005 SMART Meeting

Happy New Year everyone! This next meeting, on January 29th, is going to be SMART's 4th anniversary! Here are the details about the mini-challenge that we're having: The idea is to build a stationairy robot that can shoot some sort of Lego (...) (19 years ago, 8-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: The Great Ball Contraption

(...) When it's "officially" assembled, we will want room for the builders to monitor modules, without blocking the view of spectators. But I'd recommend the goal for running be like last year, where the whole contraption is set to run for an hour (...) (19 years ago, 3-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: The Great Ball Contraption

(...) Great work Steve, and thanks for picking up the ball and running with it. Oops, was that an unintentional pun ;) I am already looking forward to working on a module or two for the this year's BrickFest event. If you have four modules which can (...)   The Great Ball Contraption

Well, I don't have a web page made up, yet, but over the holidays, several of us got together to set-up a Great Ball Contraption. The Great Ball Contraption is a take-off of SMART's Crate Contraption. With the GBC, balls are moved (instead of crates (...) (19 years ago, 3-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Re: November 2004 SMART Meeting Notes

Thanks David for organizing this meeting. It looks like I missed a lot of cool robots. Good job Mark on a excellent mini-challenge robot. From the photos I can see that there were several other cool robots that I wish I had more time to look at. (...) (20 years ago, 22-Nov-04, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  November 2004 SMART Meeting Notes

We had a small but wonderful meeting last weekend! Gus showed a wind-up clock that he's been working on. He gave an interesting presentation on how several escapement mechanisms work, and also some useful pointers on how to reduce friction in gear (...)   Re: November 20th, 2004 SMART Meeting

This Saturday at 2pm is the next SMART meeting. We'll be at Digipen, as usual. The mini-challenge is block stacking along a line. See previous posts for details. I hope to see everyone there! -- David Schilling (20 years ago, 18-Nov-04, to lugnet.org.us.smart)
