Brian, You should talk to these guys about putting a GBC into their layout (in the future) (URL) (19 years ago, 23-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: Tic-Tac-Toe-bot

(...) The only issue I have with it is, unlike C4, the "winner" (or lack of one) is a foregone conclusion... *IF* the robot can actually play (as Steve & C4 demonstrated). Note I'm still in favor of doing it, just pointing that out. (...) 3-in-a-row (...) (19 years ago, 22-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Tic-Tac-Toe-bot

Ok, I've been thinking about the Tic-Tac-Toe game. Everyone I've talked to seems to think this will be a good competition for us to have early next year (after FLL). There are a couple questions to work out. 1) What size is the game? We can play the (...) (19 years ago, 22-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: My Latest Creation

(...) Bryan... I'd be interested in knowing how you have your drive train setup. I'm sure it is too complicated to easily explain... Maybe a couple of pictures? I've tried a few RC buggy motor drive vehicles and have found that trying to send all (...) (19 years ago, 20-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc, FTX)

  Re: My Latest Creation

(...) Yes, there is a standard Lego 9V motor for the steering. It is connected directly to the rack with a 12 tooth gear. The buggy controller is really well suited for hooking a polarity switch up to it directly. The axel output for steering is (...) (19 years ago, 19-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc, FTX)

  Re: My Latest Creation

(...) Sounds nice. So, it has a motor to steer in addition to the drive motors? Is there a reason for not using the build-in steering? Oh, I guess for future development. (RCX Controlled) Would it be possible to have the polarity switch so it will (...) (19 years ago, 19-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  My Latest Creation

Okay, so I was a little ambitious this weekend… I created a four wheel drive chassis that runs on two RC Buggy Motors. The motors are doubled up on the same drive shaft that runs both the front and rear differentials. Steering is done via rack & (...) (19 years ago, 19-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: something to do...

(...) and, the mating game was solved long before any 3x3 game was even invented. But, that's not really the point, is it? Actually, with the exception of C$, I suspect this will require more programming than any game I've done. Even with Project X, (...) (19 years ago, 18-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: something to do...

(...) Sorry, to hear that you think the next RTL game is lame. did I miss something? a 3x3 game was solved a LONG time ago. and by a plastic chicken no less. (URL) are you smarter than a chicken? The logic to solve 3x3 is public knoldge. if you want (...) (19 years ago, 18-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: something to do...

(...) That's up to you (the builder). (...) I'm inclined to think that each builder may want to use his own indexing system. However, there would need to be some markers to indicate where each block goes. Maybe those could be white lines, on a green (...) (19 years ago, 17-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: something to do...

(...) X and Y positioning of the dispenser and dispenser actuation uses three motors (I think). So moving back from the playboard, might want to be done by just moving the dispenser back from the board area (-Y?) and not the whole player. Any chance (...)   something to do...

You know, I just had an idea for an interesting game. The rtl guys are doing yet another lame competition, so I won't be spending the winter working on that, so I was thinking about other interesting things, and I came up with something I think (...)   Re: GBC Train crossing, IndyLUG & Chibots

(...) Hmm. A very interesting idea just came up. Given that we want to integrate a GBC into a train layout, I just had a cool idea that we could run a non-GBC train THROUGH the GBC. All I need is a sensor to detect where the other train is (or know (...) (19 years ago, 16-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: GBC Train crossing

(...) Even better, make the transfer sensors and waiting points as far away as possible while still preserving train-non-crashingness. That way we could run it so the two trains are often (always?) headed for the crossing at the same time, but never (...) (19 years ago, 15-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  GBC Train crossing

Well, when I started to type this e-mail, I had a question, but I think I've already answered it. I was thinking about our GBC trains. If we don't want to run them on the same loop, maybe we could run them on separate loops that cross over each (...) (19 years ago, 15-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: Battery voltage

You know, after the first time I read through the SDK for 2.0, I always wanted to try sending immediate commands from the RCX to another one. that, I suspect, I can do with the standard firmware and NQC (I'll have to try). But to get information (...) (19 years ago, 8-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: Battery voltage

(...) There are two places you could have downloaded the BrickOS stuff from. 1) The NQC site, which has everything (like the kernal) pre-built. 2) The BrickOS site, where YOU need to build everything. If you did #1, it may be hard for you to rebuild (...) (19 years ago, 8-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: Battery voltage

(...) your right. It is something mainly geared to the rcx gear heads. I'm sure Calum would LOVE IT. we all know how he HATES power cords. (grin) (...) wait.... please explain. are you saying i will need to D/L the BrickOS firmware?? OK. so far so (...) (19 years ago, 8-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: Battery voltage

(...) I don't have a problem doing that, however, I suspect very few people will find it useful. First, most people who understand how to use the code, won't have a use for it. (don't need to talk to RCXs with standard firmware) Second, most people (...) (19 years ago, 8-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: Battery voltage

(...) Hi Steve. WoW, this sounds interesting. Will you be making the code available? I'd love to be able to do the same sort of thing, but my programming skills are laking. Thanks. Chris (19 years ago, 8-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)
