You know, I just had an idea for an interesting game.

The rtl guys are doing yet another lame competition, so I won't be spending the
winter working on that, so I was thinking about other interesting things, and I came
up with something I think could prove to be fun.

Speed Tic-Tac-Toe.

The goal is to build a robot that can play tic-tac-toe against another robot.

The winner will be the bot that can (A) win the game or (B) have the fastest time
per move (not total time).  We can talk about the rules, but basicly robots can park
on two sides of the board, and they must move back a specific distance from the
field when not playing.

If the game is on a 32x32 plate, there could be 1 stud all the way around for robots
to connect to, and 3 more for a clear-zone.  That leaves 24x24, which is just right
for 8x8x8 cubes.  Those are big.  Maybe 6x6x6.

This could be a fun robot outside the actual competition...

Thoughts?

X and Y positioning of the dispenser and dispenser actuation uses three motors
(I think). So moving back from the playboard, might want to be done by just
moving the dispenser back from the board area (-Y?) and not the whole player.

Any chance the playboard might include "indexing" markers of some kind along the
edges to allow each side to use them if they want to. Crenellations?

Nice idea Steve, but I wonder of 3x3 is too deterministc. What about 4x4 with
three in a line to win? Or some variant like that.

(...) That's up to you (the builder). (...) I'm inclined to think that each builder may want to use his own indexing system. However, there would need to be some markers to indicate where each block goes. Maybe those could be white lines, on a green (...) (19 years ago, 17-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)
